22oz bottle -
Aroma - tons of dark fruit, bananas, toasted bread, and caramel.
Appearance - reddish copper body, clear, light body carbonation, 3-finger head, low retention/lacing
Flavor - belgian candi sugars, bread, raisins, light toffee and every now and then I get a banana flavor profile.
Overall - I’ve never heard of Black Market before and this was a nice beer. Not overpriced and it delivers a solid product. ComradeK (1249) - Sydney, AUSTRALIA - OCT 2, 2014
650ml bottle. Pours a fairly clear ruby amber, with a smallish off-white head, which lasts reasonably well but does not leave much lacing. Floral hops, spicy Belgian yeast and lightly sweet palm sugar make up the aroma. Light floral and spice hops up front give way to spicy yeast and sweet palm sugar in the mid-palate. Burnt sugar and spice come through in the finish. This is OK, but unremarkable, and I don’t think that the palm sugar really helps its case. BOLTZ7555 (3027) - Phoenix, Arizona, USA - JUN 4, 2014
Jagged little brew here, quite rough around the edges. Bready, biscuity, yeasty with some dark fruit, almost a spicy rye, and indistinguishable dark fruit. Fairly hot, with the alcohol distracting from the enjoyment. Meh. 5000 (6862) - Hardened Liver, Washington, USA - MAY 17, 2014
Botle:   Uh oh, may not be able to finish this one, and I’ve been poured only half the bottle.   Sweet, very bready, cloying, with a slight sweet vegetable tinge.   A bit odd.   Not really dark pitted fruit, caramel, or toffee.   Despite being cloying, body and mouthfeel are moderate.   Sweet finish, very sweet.   Has a thick spiciness to it that’s not bright, but heavy.   Otherwise extremely bready and sweet.   A bit difficult, but I finished my glass.   A whole bottle would be tough tho. Draft at the brewery. Brownish amber pour, with a fizzy off white head. Toffee, sweetness, sugar, notes of raisin and yeast. Not that interesting. Some alcohol, but doesn’t feel like 11%. Eehh.

This is an interesting Quad style ale with soft fruit esters (apricot, nectarine) as opposed to the dark/stone fruit esters usually associated with this style. It pours with a nice off white head with low retention. It pours a moderately clear orange color. Flavor matches the aroma in the ester profile, and finishes clean. Mouth feel is smooth and the alcohol is almost imperceivable, which is brilliant for this high of an ABV . nealblind (1946) - Seattle, Alabama, USA - MAR 26, 2014
clear red brown pour big tan head. Aroma of malt bomb, raisins, corriander. Tastes planty tomatoes, candi sugar, malt liquor. This is like a trippel with some heavier malting. Way too light on the palate. Booze doesn’t hide very well here, though it doesn’t quite taste 11%. Okay brew, but really out of style. after4ever (8025) - Mukilteo, Washington, USA - MAR 8, 2014
22. Pours a crystal clear slightly rubied medium amber. No head or lace. Sticky sweet nose, lots of palm sugar and unfermented sugars. Sticky thick body, with all the sugars knocking around again. Mild sweet finish. Ibrew2or3 (8748) - Tempe, Arizona, USA - MAR 1, 2014
22oz bomber pours with a crystal clear copper body that has thin gold edges and supports a nice looking tan head of foam. The aroma offers up sweet malts, booze, plums, dates, Belgian candi sugar, a touch of spics and then a slight bacon meat smokiness. The taste begins smooth and sweet with sweet malts, plums, dates and candi sugar mixed with a subtle bacon like smokiness. To midway this picks up additional notes of booze and some modest cloves to coriander spiciness. Nice quad that is young and a bit rough around the edges. A little cellar time might pull it together and round off the rough parts. Arayaga2 (2207) - portland, Oregon, USA - FEB 18, 2014
Clear reddish brown with a bit of white head. Aroma is mild and sweet with a tiny bit of solvent and bubble gum. Taste is the same, with some spicy phenols and the boozy character more like a strong golden than a quad $8/22oz
