As its namesake suggests, Quadrophenia is a Belgian style quadruple ale. We ferment Quadrophenia using Trappist ale yeast, which produces the spicy, phenolic flavors sometimes mistaken for added spices. The unique characteristics of caramel don’t come from the Pale and Munich malts, but from the introduction of Coconut Palm Sugar used in the brewing process.
Hops: Czech Saaz, Magnum
Malt: Pale, Munich, Coconut Palm Sugar

Bottle. Pours reddish amber with off white head. Nose/taste of caramel, plum, prune, fruit cake, spice and dark fruit with some toffee malt. Mostly fruit cake on the taste. Sticky sweet finish with some spicy/fruit cake. Medium body.

brokensail (16648) - Dublin, California, USA - SEP 4, 2012
Pours a dark amber color with a finger of off-white head. Bread and toasted malt aromas along with lots of dark fruit and banana. A nice raisin sweetness and some hints of spice. The flavor has a lot of toffee, bread, and caramel to go with the banana and raisin. The spice notes on the palate are a bit more pronounced than on the nose, mostly nutmeg and clove. Nice full body on this.

Bomber from Bine & Vine. Pours clear copper with a foamy off-white head. Smell is clean and rather floral. Caramel backbone. Full bodied. Flavor is yeast/spice, banana ester, caramel, kandi, and some medium dark fruit. This is a very clean and pleasing drink. Heat may be present, but it’s not getting in the way of anything. Sort of like adding to the yeast/spice. The finish is nearly dry. This stuff is way too drinkable.

Dogbrick (13789) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - JAN 18, 2015
Sample at the Aces & Ales Winter Beer Fest on 01/16/2015. Pours a clear dark copper color with a medium off-white head that dissipates steadily to an outer ring. Small patches of lacing on the glass. Aroma of dark fruit, yeast and malt. Medium to full-bodied with flavors of raising, caramel malt, and earthy yeast. The finish is sweet with a fruity yeast aftertaste. Decent overall.

Tap at the brewery tasting room. Pours a low haze deep orange with weak foam. Nose is heavy DMS/vegetal, something like Chinese orange chicken with broccoli, perhaps more beefy like Chinese take out orange beef. Taste is cloying to the max. Undrinkable. Way too much sugar.

bb (9789) - Alamo, California, USA - JUL 27, 2013
Bottle. Amber beer with a cream head. Caramel and yeast aroma with light toffee. Caramel and toffee flavor with yeast. Medium plus bodied. Toffee and caramel linger with yeast and light spice.

Ibrew2or3 (8828) - Tempe, Arizona, USA - MAR 1, 2014
22oz bomber pours with a crystal clear copper body that has thin gold edges and supports a nice looking tan head of foam. The aroma offers up sweet malts, booze, plums, dates, Belgian candi sugar, a touch of spics and then a slight bacon meat smokiness. The taste begins smooth and sweet with sweet malts, plums, dates and candi sugar mixed with a subtle bacon like smokiness. To midway this picks up additional notes of booze and some modest cloves to coriander spiciness. Nice quad that is young and a bit rough around the edges. A little cellar time might pull it together and round off the rough parts.

after4ever (8025) - Mukilteo, Washington, USA - MAR 8, 2014
22. Pours a crystal clear slightly rubied medium amber. No head or lace. Sticky sweet nose, lots of palm sugar and unfermented sugars. Sticky thick body, with all the sugars knocking around again. Mild sweet finish.

AmEricanbrew (7011) - Same Trailer, Different Park, Louisiana, USA - MAY 11, 2013
bright orange color with a rich ivory head. Apricot, peach aromas with spicy yeast, caramel, cereal grains, mild alcohol. Medium body with soft co2. Sweet grainy caramel flavors with light pit fruits, spicy belgian yeast, and toffee---alcohol is well cloaked-----very tasty Quad.
