A strange combo of flavours indeed. The chocolate and malts were not as noticeable as the sour cherry juice leaching underneath the concoction. Nothing like Black Forest cake, more like artificial chocolate mousse mixed with a coulis. Not unpleasant, but doesn’t quite work -- didn’t help that this tapped beer had no body whatsoever. Worth a rerate someday. Sammy (13000) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - MAY 24, 2007
This fresh LCBO bottle is courtesy of Pootz. Pours black, with some chocolate and cherry aroma. A chocolately smoothd rinking stout, with one flaw of burnt edges. A minority of geeks will really like that, but most people while really liking the chocolate will be repelled by the burned tar characteristic,

Bottle courtesy of hogtownharry. Pours muddy brown with a tan head. Smells of light cherries, some sweet malt. Tastes of artificial sweet cherries, some cocoa, some earthiness. T was hoping for some more intensity from the cherries, but this is nice. Some caramel on the finish. KyotoLefty (10810) - Kyoto, JAPAN - NOV 3, 2008
On tap at the Toronto Beerlicious fest.
Deep black, with a light cherry flavor, medium sweetness, and chocolate. Very mild in flavor for a stout--light bitterness. Nice. TheJester (2543) - Cavan Monaghan, Ontario, CANADA - JAN 18, 2010
On tap. Just about black with a small tan head. Caramel, chocolate, and a hint of cherries in the aroma. Flavour is chocolate, sweet & tart cherries, and a little roast. Slightly metallic finish. Thinner than it should be. Good, but I was expecting more intensity. Or something.

UPDATED: DEC 6, 2011 On Tap at BarVolo. Pours dark brown with a light brown head. Aroma of dark malt, syrup and coffee, not too much cherry. flavour is syrup and dark chocolate with muted cherry flavour. somewhat tart. watery mouth-feel. Felt that the cherry flavour was interesting but not all that well integrated. Meanwhile body was pretty light and watery. kevinsenn (2310) - Waterloo, Ontario, CANADA - APR 1, 2012
Bottle from Brewery. Nice roasty chocolate aroma. Roasty chocolate taste with sour cherries. Pretty good. JPDIPSO (6298) - Wauwatosa, USA - SEP 11, 2005
Very dark brown with a foamy half inch of tan bubbles. Rich roasted malt and a hint of cherry. Sweet roasted malt flavors mingle with mildly sweet cherry juice. Somewhat like eating a dark black forest cake. Seems quite simple, but no real flaws. Thanks jerc. tomthompson89 (1983) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - FEB 15, 2007
intresting beer, some head, not alot, dark choc brown, coffee nose, some cherry on aftertaste, intresting flavour mix. Not my fav black oak but still nice. on Cask at Volo decaturstevo (6343) - decatur, Tennessee, USA - JUL 12, 2008
A dark brown pour with hints of red around the rim. Off white head and lace. Cherries chocolate and sour dominate the nose. Coffee, lite cherries and a medium bitter dominate the flavor. A tad foamy and thin. Drinkable with a decent bitter. pretty good beer.
