Appearance: A nice black body with a slight brown 1-2 finger head.
Smell: Malty, dark chocolate.
Taste: A little too carbonated at first taste. Burnt chocolate with very slight cherry. Taste is alright but feels a little bit unbalanced.
Mouthfeel: This is better, carbonation more restrained (or maybe i’m used to it). Roasted malt with dark chocolate overtones with a bitter finish. Cherry in background but not very strong.

Looks watery for a stout
The aroma has slight cherry and chocolate in it
A little subdued for me but still pretty good

Bottle - Vintage 2008 - Cocoa powder. Muddy brown with with a thin brown head. Roasted malts with a bit of sourness and cocoa. Light body and a surprisingly sessionable. Great beer at this age. Mora2000 (6158) - McKinney, Texas, USA - JUL 9, 2013
Thanks to thirdeye11 for sharing this bottle. Dark brown pour with a tan head. The aroma is full of very bitter chocolate with some roasted malt and a bit of cherry. The flavor is bitter cocoa, chocolate and roasted malt. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation. thebhoy (61) - Ontario, CANADA - MAR 14, 2013
On tap at Milos’. I was quite disappointed by this beer. The obvious comparison for me was to the Muskoka Winter Beard Double Chocolate Cranberry Stout. Obviously different fruits involved, and this was always going to be sweeter compared to the cranberry tart and bitterness, still, what made the Muskoka really great is what Black Oak was missing. The body felt way too thin and the taste reflected that. There was definitely some interesting stuff happening there, but it all sort of fizzed away into a bit of a watery mess. Looked great, had an okay aroma, but really lacked the punch that it seemed to promise, especially having liked their Nutcracker Porter.

From notes – on tap at Bar Volo. Pours a dark brown colour with a small tan head. Aroma is sweet dark malts, coffee and some cherry. Flavour is sweet dark chocolate syrup with nuanced cherries. Damico (3147) - Royersford, Pennsylvania, USA - SEP 2, 2012
Pours unclear dark coffee in color with a light cocoa head. The aroma is my favorite part, strong notes of cherry juice with some chocolate roastiness in the background. You get a bit of the cherry juice, roasted malts, and chocolate on the tongue too, but lighter in body as is for s single sweet stout. madmitch76 (24807) - , Essex, ENGLAND - JUN 10, 2012

Opaque black beer. Nose of chocolate and wood. Light palate. Dark malt. Wood comes through loud and clear. Light unsweet chocolate with fairly subtle but sour cherry. Finishes dry. The name sounds promising, the beer is a bit of a let down. Okay but nothing special.
Bottle from Brewery. Nice roasty chocolate aroma. Roasty chocolate taste with sour cherries. Pretty good. Listigovers (1173) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - MAR 4, 2012
Strong coffee and chocolate aroma. Nice. Pure black sith llingering tan head. Tingling bitter palate. Long lasting bitter roasted flavours with a very slight hint of fruit. Very good.
