COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A rare bird release: 2015 La Mort Bourbon is one of our finest, award winning aged ales. This beer is a member of our Corbeaux Series and historically has been very sought after. This is the first vintage appearing in bottles. La Mort Bourbon is born from a marriage between La Petite Mort and freshly emptied Kentucky bourbon barrels. In La Mort Bourbon, we use multiple specialty malts to create a rich, complex beer and then follow with maturation in American oak bourbon barrels. 11.2% ABV. This fine ale has been aged (one year) and is ready to drink. No further cellar time is required.

Nice Vanilla and bourbon notes with a tapioca tone. Good sweet smooth finish without being cloying. Overall a good example of a bourbon barrel aged beer.

Bottle pour at home, dark amber pour, lot of wood, bourbon aroma. Sweet taste, definitely needs some age, some licorice, caramel, chocolate, very smooth drinking beer, some ABV is present. Definitely want to age a bottle a year or even longer to see how it blends out.

From the bottle, dark and rich in vanilla, oak, and molasses. Thick mouthfeel, warming alcohol, and lots of complex sugars. A very nice beer indeed.

Waxed bottle purchased at the brewery. Pours a reddish brown color with almost no head. Smells like straight smooth bourbon to me. Rich caramel, dark fruit, and wood flavor. Tastes much lighter than 11.2 to me, though the aroma suggests otherwise. Dominant, yet smooth flavor. Delicious cookie finish. Solid stuff.

375 ml bottle from Tavour, vintage 2016. Nose is light bourbon, vanilla, candisugar, and golden raisins. Lightly hazy amber brown with a medium, heavy lacing, beige head. Flavor is lightly sweet with vanilla and bourbon accents. Really nice.

Draft at brew pub. Rich pecan brown with a thin but tight khaki head...leaves spotted lacing. Sweet caramel, vanilla, light tobacco, meld of prune and raisin, hints of cheese funk all wrapped up in a balanced meld of bourbon barrel. The carbonation on this is much smoother and has more of a creamy feel the regular version. Sweet caramel with dried dark fruit notes, vanilla, light bourbon, brown sugar, dark wheat bread and some estery Belgian yeastiness. The barrel has done so much to improve this beer.

Very dark with a beige head. Bourbon, oak, vanilla, dark fruit, candies brown sugar, and lightly toasted dough. Full bodied. Plenty of bourbon in the finish. Not as boozy as I thought. Very well done.

375 ml bottle from a trade with Adrien. 2016 vintage, gold wax top. Color is Deep brown, small thin head. Color shows me a deep clear brown. Big full aroma of raisins, molasses and bourbon. Taste is light fruit, light caramel, with a mild bourbon with just a slight hint of warming alcohol. Mild vanilla hints (from bourbon) The body is medium plus with a slick body. Not feeling the booze right away, burn comes late for just a small duration. Really, really nice.

Bottle (375ml $12.50): 2015 vintage. Dark Amber with small tan head. Nice bourbon aroma and taste. Sweet. Need to drink again and add more details.

ManvsCity (183) - Austin, Texas, USA - DEC 10, 2009
UPDATED: DEC 11, 2009 The bourbon barrel aging seems to have mellowed this brew over the few months in the barrel. Pours an off white head over a rich amber body with minimal lacing. Sweet bourbon aromas with brown sugar, caramel, and flan. Dry on the tongue: stone fruits, bourbon, oak, and white raisin. Could drink this every other day.
