In the creator role, and in the Raven’s role as the totem and ancestor, the Raven is often addressed as Grandfather Raven. With this stately sense of pomp and tradition we bring you our Imperial Stout. This robust black ale is full with rich dark caramel, unsweetened chocolate, and hints of coffee aromas and flavors. Stately indeed, but at 9.5% ABV, perhaps it is just a vain attempt to encourage the trickster spirit to act respectably. Released annually in the winter.

In tap at brewery. Pours inky black with small beige head that disappears quick. Nose of big bourbon, licorice, molasses, chocolate.big in the mouth but enough carb to help overcome how cloying it is. Tate is sweet with same flavors as nose but throw in some dark fruits. Great beer for sure. I want more than one glass, which is the limit here

22 oz. bottle in a trade with my buddy Adrien. 2016 vintage. Deep, black in color with plenty of full thick tan head with lacing. Aroma shows a big amounts of chocolate, coffee, roasted malts in a big way.

This is a non barrel aged stout without any adjuncts and it is brewed extremely well. The flavor has the solid roasted malt backbone that gives off coffee and molasses notes. Body is full and creamy with a nice viscosity over the tongue. Extremely drinkable with the booze nearly completely hidden. Classic and exceptionally well done!

Bottle shared at Joes. Poured a medium density pitch black with a foamy medium beige head. Aroma is earthy, root beer barrel, bad dark chocolate, slight cardboard. Flavor is better, notes of chocolate, dark malts, wood on the end that turns into coffee grounds and chocolate muffins. Fuller body with average carbonation and a lingering aftertaste.

On tap at the Redmond taproom Black with a dense heavy mocha colored head and chunks of spotty lacing. Big semi sweet coffee and chocolate with the soft roast character. Flavors is more roast, some coffee and licorice. Smooth heavy body and a little ABV booziness. Roast h and smooth and properly buttered. Big and balanced. Very good

Near black pour with khaki head. Big chewy body, surprisingly so at less than 10%. Bitter chocolate, dark fruit, coffee and caramel on the nose. Caramel is more prominent in the flavor, more like a porter that way. Chocoalte, char, light licorice. Good.

Pours deep black with a fair bit of creamy brown foam. Nose is roasted dark malt, coffee, and a hint caramel. Taste is a lot of malt, some chocolate, and roasted coffee. Less caramel is the taste than in the nose. Somewhat bitter. Maybe some ash too. Full bodied, heavily carbonated. Fine but nothing special.

jsquire (4497) - St. Marys, Ohio, USA - DEC 24, 2016
Dark beer with a foamy beige head. Big rich chocolaty nose. Lots of chocolate, burnt sugar, molasses, dark fruit, some sweetened coffee and a nice hop bitterness in the finish. Nice big impy stout.

Tmoney99 (14503) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - DEC 19, 2016
Bottle shared by alexsdad06. Poured black color with an average frothy brown head that lasted with very good lacing. Aroma was a medium to heavy toasted dark chocolate malt. Medium to full body with a smooth texture and flat carbonation. Medium to heavy complex toasted sweet malt flavor and a Medium to heavy dark sweet finish of moderate to long duration. This is a solid beer.

alexsdad06 (10436) - West Chester, Ohio, USA - DEC 8, 2016
22 oz bottle shared with Tmoney99. Pours dark brown to black in color with a small khaki colored head. The aroma and flavor have roasted malts, dark chocolate, coffee, mild caramel, smooth, very dry, tasty, the bitterness is more of a dark chocolate bitterness, good body and mouthfeel.

kathouse (1894) - LAS VEGAS, Nevada, USA - NOV 17, 2016
Pours deep brown with a light tan head. Head fades to a lasting ring. Some caramel sweetness in the aroma and toasted malt notes. Flavor is burnt wood dipped in cocoa. Nice mild finish though.
