On nitro at the brewery. Pours a dark brown with medium creamy beige head that lasts. The aroma is coffee grounds, brownie, roast. Medium body, similar flavors to nose, bitter finish, good. after4ever (8025) - Mukilteo, Washington, USA - NOV 9, 2015
Nitro at SB. You won’t find too many people who dislike nitro more than I dislike nitro, but even I have to hand it to BR for pulling off a beauty with this beer. Pours the usual flat, gunmetal-looking nitro body, in this case matte black. The usual chalky, creamy disc of tan foam on top. But it starts getting good as soon as you get closer to it. Those is gorgeous, showing deep coffee notes with nice dark chocolate overtones (you’d think sweet cocoa, but something about the way this all ties together gives it a greater depth and complexity). I confess I could not really find much whiskey, at least with this pout. Creamy, somewhat chalky medium body; you know how it goes with the nitro. Gorgeous chocolate and coffee mid palate, a little roasty, a little earthy--but definitely predominated by delicious roasty coffee. Wonderful beer. tcon25 (935) - Duvall, Washington, USA - NOV 6, 2015
Draft pour at brewery on nitro, first off this beer looks awesome, dark brown pour redish tint nice creamy head, huge roasted coffee aroma. Nice thick body, semisweet flavor, roasted malt, coffee chocolate, some bourbon flavor, very smooth drinking. Absolutely amazing beer. Loved this one. andrewje41 (4161) - Kenmore, Washington, USA - NOV 6, 2015
Nitro pour pint at the brewery. Thick chocolate milkshake like pour with the nitro cream head. Fresh coffee bean aroma. Flavor is a heavy coffee roast with a semi sweet milk chocolate. Is there coffee in this? Seems like it. Crea. Heavy, espresso finish. I have disliked a notable streak of nitro beers, but this one was fantastic. Best nitro beer I’ve had?? Could be. On tap at Brouwer’s for Big Wood. Pours solid black with a tan head. Aroma of wood, roasted malts, and hints of chocolate. Flavour of all of the above including syrup, and caramel. Well balanced and very nice.

Dark brown in color clear with a thin head. Rich thick dark malts sweet chocolate and light hops backing. The flavor was super rich and terrific Bourbon flavor and aroma. This was a super Porter with barrel aging that was near perfect. mcberko (18583) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - DEC 9, 2011
On nitro tap at Brouwer’s for Big Wood, pours black with a medium, smooth tan head. Aroma of roasted malt, light chocolate and light wood. Flavour is slightly less inviting, with toasted nuts, light barrels, slight sour notes, butter chocolate and bitter coffee. Very nice. riversideAK (6261) - Shoreline, Washington, USA - NOV 25, 2010
Nose has notes of dark malts, roast, a hint of sweetness, light bourbon barrel - brown sugar and vanilla, hints of alcohol. Pours more or less black with a nice creamy nitro head. The flavor starts with roasted malts, has notes of dark chocolate and earth with essence of bourbon barrel throughout. Nice light use of bourbon. Light bodied creamy nitro conditioning. Smooth and pleasant.
