Based on the description on the bottlte you think "How can this work?", but it does. Nice blueberry and mild hop aroma. The blueberries and spices come through in the flavor but dont overpower the very nice pale ale base.

This one pours a vibrant amber body with a rocky, beige head. Herbal and blueberry bouquet with just an intimation of vanilla. Tea-like aroma. The body is of blueberry and vanilla with an ESB-like herbal hop bitterness. Herbal blueberry finish with mild bitterness and sweetness.

Bottle from Special Brews in Lynnwood, WA. Pours amber with an off-white head. Aroma is blueberry with some vanilla and something herb/mint. Med body or so. Flavor is rather amberish with definitey blueberry and something herb. Vanilla note too. Certainly different. Finishes a bit malty and a bit bitter.

Bottle, dark amber beer, skiff of white foam. Aroma malt, wet dog and blueberries. Taste blueberries, spruce, vanilla, maybe some mango. Theres an almost IPA bitterness on the finish, thats sort of at odds with the blueberry, vanilla and malty sweetness. Palate is light, carbonation moderate. This is interesting, and keeps me drinking it to see how it changes, but Im not sure its good.

Bottle. Pours a slightly hazy amber color with a moderate light tan head on there. Nose is fruity, with some blueberries to it and just a hint of citrus underneath. Taste is slightly sweet up front with a bitter middle and a slightly sweet finish. Lots of blueberry throughout. Decent brew.

Bottle pour at home, light copper pour, blueberry pancake aroma, little bitter taste, that may be the cat nip, not sure. Interesting beer.

Not a bad pale ale, but was hoping for it to be a little more interesting to be honest. Pours a clear orange with a white head. Smells of blueberries and a bit of herbs. Taste is English pale ale, clean with some blueberries, herbiness and a hint of vanilla in the finish. Had in the bottle.

Clear copper/amber. I honestly expected a little more reddishness but this is just a crisp clear deep amber. Minimal head, but still decent lacing. First thing I noticed when I popped the cap was a quick whiff of dried blueberries. Not strong, but definitely present. That fades a bit as I pour and more traditional malts emerge. Bready and caramel and even a touch of biscuits. Some mild spicy hops in the background. I can see where folks get the blueberry muffin comparison. Interesting and pleasing aromas, but fairly faint. Grows as it warms. Vanilla comes in first, but not the strong definite vanilla you see in vanilla stouts, more a round sweet indistinction. Gives way to a definite berry sweetness and the idea of packaged blueberry muffins continues. Interesting. Doesnt forget its roots ultimately finishing with a pleasing earthy bitterness. Bridge between the muffins and the hops is some sweeter malts. Smoothe and drinkable I find myself appreciating this more the further into the glass I get. Definitely not for everyone though. I have no idea what catnip tastes/smells like, so I cant speak to what it might or might not offer in this glass, but if the description of the brew sounds compelling to you, Black Raven has a great reputation for a reason, and this is nuanced and well constructed.
