Bomber. Appearance is a light orange and copper color with a half-inch of beige foam. The aroma is a sharp and floral blend of mint, pineapple and ruby red grapefruit. The flavor starts out with a heavy dose of vegetal hops bitterness, pine and citrus rind followed by some tropical fruit and malt notes. Lots more leafy lupulin bitterness in the finish in addition to a mild booze burn in the background. Overall, an enjoyable fresh hop-esque DIPA. Bomber poured a clear orange ambe with a lasting creamy amber head. Aromas of biscuit, candied orange, grapefruit and light tropical fruit. Palate was medium bodied and smooth with a dry finish. Flavors of biscuit, candied orangew, earthiness, light grapefruit and a hint of tropical fruit with a smooth dry bitter lingering citrus finish. bhensonb (15194) - Woodland, California, USA - JUN 21, 2012
Bomber from Malt & Vine. Pours dark copper with a creamy/foamy off-white head. Aroma is primarily cooked caramel. But there’s a mixed floral/citrus aspect. Full bodied. Flavor is very fresh - floral and resin with some secondary citrus. This is headed towards a very hoppy barley wine. There’s no hop burn, but there’s an awful lot of hop. It crawls with hop. I’m thinking the IBUs would be big. Very clean. Incredibly tasty. My mouth is accruing bitterness. 5000 (6862) - Hardened Liver, Washington, USA - JUN 12, 2012
Bottle:   Orange side of amber, faint haze, large frothy white head, nice lacing.   Pithy nose, soft hoppiness, a bit of faint citrus peel.   Very much pithy on the tongue, dry, hoppy yet not bitter.   A bit citrusy on the backside, hoppy, clean and crisp.   Seems like a theme with Black Raven, clean and crisp!   Body and mouthfeel are moderate.   Comes across bigger than your normal IPA, but its neither overly hopped or overly malty.   Seems like a robust IPA to me.   Despite it being 8.3%, which is well hidden, it drinks very much like an IPA.   Well, maybe 1½ IPA.   Fairly average, but well built, crisp, and clean.   Not a big example tho.
