COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This robust strong ale features pale malts and generous hop additions. After primary fermentation, several American rye whiskey barrels are filled and cellared to age. The remaining beer is then cellared in a stainless steel tank. After many months of aging, the barrels are then blended into the remaining batch aged in the stainless steel tank. Rare bird, released annually in winter and in limited quantity throughout the year.

12 oz. bottle from Dave - thanks again! 2012 vintage. Pours a hazy amber with a small off-white head that settles into a ring and a few small spots of film. Really woody, the oak just digs in. Toffee, whiskey, dates, figs, raisins, some grass or pine, and grapefruit peel. It’s probably an interaction between the wood and alcohol giving off those last few notes. Medium-bodied, with low carbonation and a sweet, boozy, woody, slightly bitter mouthfeel. Definitely not fresh but doesn’t seem five years old.

Bottle - Nice caramel and some nice vinous barrel notes. Cloudy gold with a small white head. Lots of nice Woody notes with caramel and a sweet Woody finish. Nice sweet and Woody

Draft at sb. 2011 keg, aged in tsmp control continuously ever since. Pours a murky bright medium amber with a dense and creamy light tan head. Big sweet delicious nose, caramel and oranges and fruitcake and cake batter and a bit of creamy frosting too. Sticky thick body with light carb fighting through. Dark caramel, treacle, oranges, bananas, carrot cake, and frosting on the mid palate. Long sweet finish. Luscious.

Draft pour at brewery (2013) light pour copper. Aroma of a beer that was ageed in barrels. Very smooth beer here. I definitely like the aged version of this beer.

2013 version draft pour at the brewery. Pours a dark reddish copper color with a thin oily head. Aroma is rich sugary malt and caramel. Flavor is sweet. Thicker body. Some brown sugar to it. Lingering sweetness with a little booziness. A warmer upper here for sure. It’s strong, and doesn’t hide it. Overall a fun barleywine. Good beer.

Draught, 2012 vintage. Pours a hazy amber color with a small white head on there. Nose has some strong bread and caramel in there. Taste is slightly sweet and seems very alcohol laden. Decent brew.
