On cask at the taproom on 8-4-10. Pours a deep reddish brown with a small beige head. Carbonation is light and served slightly chilled out of the cask on the bar. Aromas are malty, and a little sweet with just a hint of rum and cherries coming through, not overpowering. Flavor has a big malty backbone with some sweetness from the malt with a slight touch of roast in the background. Oak comes through in the finish and but is subtle. Overall a solid scotch ale that doesn’t come across as too fruity or boozy. All of the other flavors from the oak/rum/fruit additions are in the background, let the beer shine through, but marry well. Nicely done.
