12 oz. bottle from Dave - thanks again! 2013 vintage. Pours a hazy deep amber with a small off-white head that settles into a ring. Notes of brown sugar, toffee, whiskey, wood, tea, dried and dark fruits, and a little bit of an artificial sweetener note, probably a result of age and oxidation. Light-medium bodied, with low carbonation and a smooth, sweet mouthfeel. This isn’t bad but probably really good fresh. IrishBoy (4259) - Bakersfield, California, USA - MAR 24, 2017
Bomber from Tavour. Nose is vanilla, caramelized sugar, peat, and a hint of bourbon. Very clear rusty red with a small beige head. Flavor is sweet vanilla caramels with a bit of bourbon. Tmoney99 (15224) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - MAR 21, 2017
Bottle shared by alexsdad06. Poured clear dark brown color with a moderate tan head that mostly lasted with excellent lacing. Moderate to heavy caramel toasted malt and wood aroma. Medium to full body with a smooth texture and soft carbonation. Moderate to heavy bourbon and dark malt sweet flavor with a moderate to heavy sweet finish of moderate to long duration. Very good brew. slowrunner77 (13408) - Reno, Nevada, USA - MAR 2, 2017
Mahagony outta the bomber. Mostly sweet malt, leather, toffee, vanilla and booze. Touch of smoke. Nice body - big n smooth. alexsdad06 (11392) - West Chester, Ohio, USA - FEB 25, 2017
22 oz bottle shared with the group from Tavour. Pours a deep copper color with a small off white head that disappeared to a ring. The aroma and flavor have sweet malts, nutty character, bourbon, wood, vanilla, I like that this is not overly sweet, caramel, gets better with warming, hides the abv nicely.

UPDATED: FEB 5, 2017 Pours deep red with minimal tan head. Nose is strong with bourbon, peat, oak, vanilla, caramel, and I think cherry. Taste is toffee, roasted malt, dark fruits: perhaps cherry and plum, oak, and just a hint of that lovely peat. Full bodied, goes down sticky. The alcohol is well masked. This is very nice. It?s not the stereotypical scotch ale and if I didn?t know it was aged in a bourbon barrel I would have guessed brandy. Very drinkable with nice complexity. monk191 (2022) - Portland, Oregon, USA - FEB 3, 2017
A nice scotch ale overall. Pours a beautiful deep ruby red with a tan head. Smells of cotton candy, caramel. Taste is sweet, with bourbon, more cotton candy, caramel, and a scotch ale finish. Paired with scallops and almond pesto, more bourbon is brought out. Had in the bottle.

Big Wood 2016, Brouwer’s, Seattle. Quite creamy, heavy tan head. Red-edged, clearish brown. Sweet, quite barrel heavy nose. Metallic. Creamy sip, banana cream. Lots of alcohol. A little lipstick. Warm round scotch, alc flavor in background. Ok. Very rich alc. cobaink2 (867) - seattle, Washington, USA - MAY 7, 2016
12oz at flock party. Drinks as a fine coke flavor with a hint of vanilla and bourbon. Really focuses on the cola flavor unfortunately but pretty fantastic.

UPDATED: APR 28, 2016 Bottle, dark reddish amber, no head. Aroma is malt, whiskey, vanilla, oak. Taste is bourbon, vanilla, oak, malt, raisin, cherries. Palate is rich and thick. My palate is off tonight, even this seems like it has a hoppy bitter finish.
Rerating this, taste buds some better tonight and this is great beer. Anise, candy sugar, oak, bourbon and vanilla, cherries and figs.
