LoFi (1729) - Göteborg, SWEDEN - OCT 19, 2011
Black with a cappuccino-coloured ring.
Aroma: light peaty, chocolate, some licorice.
Taste: peat and whisky, but not that much, chocolate, licorice, some coffee.
Medium-bodied, a bit sharp carbonation.
The Islay aging is apparent, but more laid back than I expected. Nice though. Nisse666 (7517) - Göteborg, SWEDEN - OCT 16, 2011

Black with a tan head. A nice beer with quite a lot of whisky in it. Surprisingly sweet taste. Good and interesting but maybe too much whisky character?

Sample @ Gothenburg Beerfest 2011. 2-9-2011.
Sigmund (7608) - Tau, NORWAY - SEP 2, 2011
500 ml bottle, as The Black Rooster Stout Oak’n Islay Edition, from Ølkonsortiet, Aalborg. ABV is 6.7%. Pitch black colour, large to moderate brown head. Nice aroma, roasty, coffee, dark chocolate, molasses, tar, liquorice, Islay whisky with notes of peat smoke, oak, vanilla, sea water and old rope. The flavour is medium sweet (or medium dry, if you like), with strong notes of peat / smoke, ashes, Islay whisky and roasted malts / coffee. A slight unwanted acidity and some salty notes. The hops are quite moderate. fiulijn (20604) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - AUG 26, 2011
Draught at Ørsted, Copenhagenlarsga (7564) - Oslo, NORWAY - AUG 12, 2011
Black color; creamy brownish head. The aroma is smoked, peaty, but also with a medicinal component that is not very appreciated. Dry mouthfeel, with smooth roasted malt, some whiskey, peaty character, good chocolate, light liquorice, a bit salty too; and again, chemicals and medicinal; ordinary bitterness.
Medium dark brown head. Nearly opaque black body is clear deep
dark red at edges. Deep burnt smoky mealy aroma with minty
earthy notes. Very clear and harmonic. Dry-sweet smoky burnt
toffee taste with whisky notes. Mid-to-full body. Mild, soft,
smooth mouthfeel. Dry sooty smoky whisky aftertaste with toffee
and chocolate notes. Nice, but perhaps a bit much whisky
taste. (0.5l bottle, Fish & Beer, Copenhagen.) RasmusOtt (2792) - Aarhus, DENMARK - JUL 24, 2011
