A deep dark translucent brown with a thick moka head. Aroma of brown sugar, butterscotch, and plums. In mouth, a smoky oily malt, with light sweetness, and light British hopping, with nice sustained nuttyness. Medium bodied. Bottle is actually almost a year old, from Capflu if I recall (so from BC) and still a good quaffer. Drake (13646) - Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA - AUG 6, 2011
Bottle shared by beerandblues2 at the 5/7/11 DC Ratebeer gathering. Pours a clear copper color with a large frothy tan head. Good head retention and lacing. Aroma of toffee, fruity notes and leafy hops. The taste is toasted malts, bitter hops and stone fruits. Medium bodied. Christian (13605) - Odense, DENMARK - NOV 20, 2004
Dark amber ale with little head. Has a weak aroma with burned malt and nuts and something metallic. Roast malt also dominates the flavour with a long dry aftertaste. bierkoning (13243) - La Tropica, NETHERLANDS - SEP 7, 2003
Deep ruby brown color. Chocolate aroma and flavor. Some coffee bitternees, licorice. Fairly well hopped, malty with a hint of apple. Medium bodied and well balanced. There is some alcohol, but that is reasonably weel hidden. Well made strong ale. BeerandBlues2 (13208) - Escondido, California, USA - MAY 7, 2011

Bottle shared at home tasting. Ruby brown pour with an off white head. Aroma of sweet malts fruit and caramel. Same aspects in flavour with a medium body and low to medium carbonation. thewolf (12534) - Kolding, DENMARK - JUL 7, 2006
Nice dark amber colour, leaning into black. Plenty of hoppiness in the aromas, even some bread appearing... Quite a powerful taste, leaning towards a stoutiness with plenty of hops. The aftertaste leaves a nice caramel impression. Sammy (12091) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - MAR 18, 2006
A brown ale with abundant ice cream float head. Hoppiness and malty character and complexity, some cocoa. Earthy, touch herbal, bit astringent mouthfeel, which is fine with food.Lace in glass. Definite nuttiness. Surprisingly drinkable. Satisfying. Good for its style.

decent dark ale...malty, not quite robust. medium bodied with a sweet roasty finish. I’d get again but wouldn’t go out of my way... madsberg (11762) - Søborg, DENMARK - OCT 4, 2004
Bottled: Amber coloured. Clear. Brownish dense medium sized head. Lasting long. Malts, liqourice, hops and herbs in the nose. Flavour is malty as well, with not so distinct liqourice taste. Notes of fruit and some vague chocolate. Is light bitter on a nice maltbase in the end. Nice one.
