On tap at brewery, poured a milky yellow w/ a creamy long lasting white head. Light spicy aroma. Initial flavor is light sour tart. Tastes are lemon, clove, white grapefruit and white pepper. Medium bodied, creamy mouthfeel and light dry finish. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

locapour (6) - Austin, USA - AUG 3, 2013 does not count
I featured the Black Star Elba on an episode of Locapour: http://locapour.tv/austin/blackstarcoopelba Wha a fantastic beer for Austin. It was designed to beat the heat. The cucumber, while it may seem weird, totally makes the beer. Fun fact: This beer was crowdsourced in its creation by the member owners of Black Star Co-op. It’s a true Austin Craft Beer community beer.

Pint on tap. Bright gold color, decent little bubbly head, OK lacing. First impression - too sour, high carbonation. Why is this served with a cucumber? I don’t know if it’s the cucumber or the veggies in it (grains of paradise?) but something’s off. I haven’t been impressed with "american wheat ales" - they’re just inferior to weizens as far as I’m concerned.

Hazy gold pour with a thin white head. Wheat and lemongrass, faint in the aroma but coming on stronger in the taste.

On tap at the brewpub. The beer pours a hazy yellow color with a white head. It was served with a slice of cucumber on the rim. The aroma is mainly wheat, with not too much else going on. The flavor is more complex. I get some wheat and lemon notes, as well as some juicy orange notes. I also get some cucumber notes, but that may only be because the beer was served with a slice. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation.

Spritzy yellow color with a frothy white head. Dirty biscuity aroma. Good starting bite with flavors of biscuit and mineral water. Bitter finish that dries with time.
