Draft at the source. Pours a clear deep amber hue with a light beige head. Aroma of malt, caramel, peat notes. Taste is malt , caramel, whiskey, oak, hints of smoke. lownote (585) - Austin, Alabama, USA - JAN 23, 2016
Great malty aroma. Pours clear with a tiny tiny head. Taste is very sweet. Very scotch. A tiny bit cloying. Still pretty drinkable. phaleslu (10244) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - DEC 8, 2012
Draft at the brewpub. Pours a deeper clear amber than the Vulcan or Double Dee. Very peaty in nose and flavor. Wood, caramel, burnt sugar and dark fruit all become apparent, with a sweeter toffee or vanilla note opening at room temperature. Medium-bodied, with a smooth, peaty mouthfeel and modest carbonation. Struck me as too simple for a barrel Scotch ale at first but got better with each sip. GODiSSOUTHERN (390) - Virginia, USA - DEC 22, 2011
Pours a very light brown with some thin lacing at the edges. Strong whiskey aroma. Light carbonation. Tastes of light caramel, coconut, and bourbon. A little peaty too. thirdeye11 (6160) - Dallas, Texas, USA - DEC 10, 2011

Ooh wow! Rich caramel flavor was the first thing I noticed about this beer. Its dark caramel in color and pours with a small head. A little charcoal wood and smokiness come out later. It drinks slow and well. slimchill (1044) - Austin, Texas, USA - OCT 31, 2011
Draught. Peat smoke and caramel in the nose, smokiness is subdued enough to keep from being overbearing. Clear ruby red with a thin brown head. Full-bodied with a nice balance between sweetness, smoke, and booze. it implies scotch, and implies it well with out seeming forced. A great slow sipper.
