Cask at Cloisters tap takeover Nov 2012, memory banks rate. They were pretty memorable due to the brewer talking us through the water supply, and the noticeable chalky effect it had on all his beers. This pours black with a thick beige head. Aromas of chocolate, light creamy note. Taste is more of the same. Cask (gravity) @ Cambridge Winter Ale Festival 2013, at the University Social Club, Mill Lane, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England CB2 1RX.
Clear dark red brown color with a average, frothy - fizzy, fair lacing, mostly lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, roasted, burnt, dark roasted. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet and moderate bitter with a long duration, moderate to heavy chocolate, moderate roasted. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft to flat.

Very dark, small tight beige head. A little bran in the aroma. Slight chocolate cakeiness. Full smooth palate. Good balance. Nice rich burntness, no ashiness or astringency. Each sip makes you want to take another sip.
Cask conditioned at Cambridge Winter Ales Festival ’13. Black with slight tan head. This beer had quite a fusty note about it, a little fungal in character, it was also quite thin on the palate. [cask at Cloisters Bar, Edinburgh] Black pour, cream-coloured head. Roasted chocolate on the aroma, with sweet, sticky stone fruit. Touch of Christmas pudding? Maybe not. Flavours are more straightforwardly stout – roasted dark malts mingling with berry and stone fruit, leading into a bitter, very dry finish. Good stuff

Sleeked flat coffee dark body and matching head. Neat wafer/chocolate, think almost Kit Kat crunch. Cask, Cloisters, BlackBar Takeover
On cask @ Cloisters. Pours opaque black with a nice creamy brown head. The nose has chocolate, cream and minerals. The taste has more of the same. The palate is medium to full bodied with a creamy texture and a fairly refined finish. Cask at cloisters. Black brown, thin tan head. Fudgey toffee, blackcurrant, light dark chocolate, softest toasty roast nose. Surprisingly (but nicely) dry front, light blackcurrant fruits again, soft roast malts, bittersweet dark chocolate and light hop spice finish. Just very slightly thin but quite unique.
