750 ml bottle into tulip glass, 2016 vintage bottling. Pours slightly hazy deep orange/amber/light copper color with a 1-2 finger fairly dense and fluffy cream colored head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings around the glass, with a good amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Aromas of big raisin, plum, cherry, fig, melon, pear, apple, date, orange zest, peppercorn, light banana/clove, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, brown bread, toasted biscuit, light nuttiness, herbal, floral, grass, and yeast earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of fruity/spicy yeast, dark/bready malt, and light-moderate earthy hop notes; with great strength. Taste of big raisin, plum, cherry, fig, melon, pear, apple, date, orange zest, peppercorn, light banana/clove, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, brown bread, toasted biscuit, light nuttiness, herbal, floral, grass, and yeast earthiness. Moderate yeast spiciness, and light herbal/grassy bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of raisin, plum, cherry, fig, melon, pear, apple, date, orange zest, peppercorn, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, brown bread, toasted biscuit, nuttiness, herbal, floral, grass, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Incredible complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/spicy yeast, dark/bready malt, and light-moderate earthy hop flavors; with an awesome malt/spiciness balance, and zero astringent flavors after the finish. Moderate dryness from carbonation and yeast spiciness, increasing through the glass. High carbonation and medium body; with a very smooth, crisp, moderately creamy/bready/grainy, and slightly sticky balanced mouthfeel that is awesome. Zero warming alcohol as expected of 6.3%. Overall this is a fantastic Belgian dark ale! All around outstanding complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/spicy yeast, dark/bready malt, and light-moderate earthy hop flavors; very smooth, crisp, clean, and refreshing to drink. Highly complex with perfectly balanced yeast/malt flavors. Never overly prickly/foamy from the high carbonation. A highly enjoyable offering. madsberg (11773) - Søborg, DENMARK - APR 30, 2017

Bottle. Hazy light amber with a thick, off-white head, fully lasting. Aroma of caramel, toasted bread, citrus, pear, plum, strawberry, mustiness, herbs. The flavor is moderately sweet and lightly bitter. It finishes lightly to moderately sweet and lightly to moderately bitter. Medium body, watery/velvety texture, lively carbonation. Taste of fruity esters, light mustiness, toasted grain, cherry, citrus. The early sweetness takes a light bitter turn in the finish. Have to think the hops have lost some of their oomph (2016 bottle). Still a pleasure to drink. Clean and full of flavor. drfabulous (8098) - Lexington, Kentucky, USA - FEB 23, 2017
