Benzai (15926) - Oirschot, THE NETHERLANDS, NETHERLANDS - JUN 9, 2017
Sampled from bottle shared by Joes. Opaque hazy light orange color, small white head. Smell and taste lightly malts, slight tart, peach. Decent body, suitable soft carbonation. Quite pleasant.

Bottle @ joes. Clear gold, huge white head. Smells malts, barnyard. Tastes fresh, yeasty, malts, nice. Medium body, medium carbo.

Bottle at Leighton’s 20K, thanks to Fergus. It pours cloudy orange - amber with a massive white head. The aroma is bready, musty, funky, earth, dirt, herbal, quite sweaty, orange peel, mango and apricot. The taste is crisp, dry, bitter - sweet, earthy, musty, funky, wood, dirt, leather, farmyard, spice and a touch metallic with a dry finish. Medium body, high carbonation and massively foamy mouth - feel. Very earthy and dirty. Fun, but doesn’t come across as well refined.

Leighton’s 20K at his posh new gaff! Thanks to Fergus. Hazy gold beer, good cream colour head. Palate is airy and semi dry, decent fine carbonation. Fluffy floralness, bretty undertone. Floral bitterness. Something a little skewed. Airy dry finish. Not doing much for me.

St David’s Day 2017 - Bottle share at Leighton’s 20K. Many congrats! As ’Blackberry Farm Cellar Reserve Brettanomyces Saison’. Big thanks to Fergus for this one. Pours dark orange, almost opaque, huge foamy off-white head leaves thick lacing. Aroma is quite heady and herbal – couldn’t quite place it – had me thinking of sage and bay leaf, stuffing. Also chalky. Body is light and thin, frothy with tingly+ carbonation. Taste is quite spicy, chalk and bonbons with icing sugar, rounded sugars with more spice into the finish. Quite interesting. Touch washed out by carbonation. (3.5)

75cl bottle shared at Leighton’s Penthouse for his 20K. Special thanks to Fergus for this beer. It pours a hazed golden apricot color with a large off white head. Aroma is funky and dry with notes of straw and grass. Taste is weird dry with notes of seaweed and sea slugs. Medium bodied with lively carbonation. Overall, indecent

Leighton (21494) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - MAR 1, 2017
Bottle shared in London at the 20k - cheers to Fergus. Pours clearish orange with a billowing, creamy white head. Some doughy wheat in the nose, ripe tangerine, pale bread. Light-medium sweet flavour with notes of white grape, tangerine, lemon meringue, pale grains. Medium bodied with fine carbonation. Lightly warming in the finish with more doughy wheat bread, citrus, meringue, tangerine, mellow hitter hay. Not bad overall.

Bottle shared at the Leighton mega 20k tasting. 1/03/2017. From Beer gonzo. A translucent golden orange coloured pour with a a huge Rocky white head. Aroma is saison, apple, lemon, subdued wheaty grains. Flavour is composed of semi sweet malts, lowish brett, herbal, grassy hop, hint of liquorice, raw grains. Palate is semi sweet, frothy, medium bodied. Grassy bitterness finish.

Bottle 750ml @ Gnarf
Pours hazy deep golden with a off-white head. Aroma has notes of malt, brett, yeast and hint of dried fruits. Taste is light to medium sweet and light bitter with a long slightly dry, brett and fruity finish. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is fizzy.

Sample at EBF Saturday Earthy spicy lightly funky sweet bready maltiness. Not bad.
