5/11/2016 -- from notes: 750ml bottle, from Dutch's. Clear golden orange color. Pours with a big airy white head. Some frothy bits of lace. Nice spicy, peppery, wooodsy, kind of herbal flavor. Satisfying bit of hop, that's integrated well and not blunt. Interesting biscuity malt character, mild toasty. Hint of citrus, some floral.. Moderate sweet, light to moderate bitter. Medium-plus body. Smooth, kind of soft carbonation that mellows out nicely. Mild dry back end. Very satisfying. Maltier and a touch darker than I'm used to for a hoppy saison, but I dig its character.

I enjoyed this very much though I suspect that a 2 year old bottle has lost the hop character that it may have once featured. Still this was a sublime wild saison, with a nice bready yeastiness, mild funk, green-apple tartness, mild fruity sweetness, nice balance. Funny thing is that after killing the 750 (and it was easy to drink the whole thing alone, very nice light body but not thin or watery) I sniff at the bottle and think I can sense some tettnanger hops.

Bottle @ Home. I really didn’t mean to grab a 2015 bottle but somehow this one was pretty nice. Clear yellow appearance with a huge, rocky, off white head. High carbonation, flamed out of the bottle constantly after first pour. This one is all grassy, herbal hops. Tons of straw, hay, and freshly cut grass. Just a bit of pepper. Super easy drinker. I crushed a 750 in 30 minutes without really noticing. Despite the age on this dry hopped beer, it’s still pretty damn good.

Bottle. Pours slightly hazy golden amber, small off-white head, decent lacing. Aroma is saison - field grass, black pepper, prickly hops, light floral notes. Flavor is very light sweet, light bitter, grassy and peppery. Light body. Quite nice.

Love it when the cork gently lifts itself out. Hazy straw colored liquid with a foamy white head. Pure Tettanger and East Kent Golding aromas (reminder of my early homebrew days, when these were the staples of most of my brewing). Sweetness of banana and circus peanuts along with some wheat. Light, bright feel. Light sweetness in the front. A bit of fruit in the middle, mostly a white grape flavor. Nice noble hop finish. The deeper one gets into the bottle the more the personality comes out. As a bit more yeast mingles, the dry attic/old barn qualities come out. Orvalesque in a slightly sweeter note.

750 mL bottle. Cork flies off with a little nudge. Pours with an enormous white head. Retains a fluffy pillow of foam. Smells of green apples. Doughy sweet malts. Tastes of green apples too, but with an earthy and spicy hop bite. Sweet doughy malts here too. Carbonic finish. Really high carbonation. Medium body. Not a delicate saison. Had an aggressive sweetness and bitterness.

Not a bad Samson. Pick up some of the Samson qualities, but there’s also some sweet in there that doesn’t belong. Also don’t find those hops that are named. Thanks to PB for the sample.

effervescent gold, puffy white head but weak lacing. Heavily yeasty nose, faint banana esters with waxy profile, light pear. Estery flavor is pear and pepper up front, some syrupy sugar mid palate wax before sugary pear finish. way too estery amidst the full, zesty body. Bludgeoning.

Refrigerated 75 cl brown bottle corked and caged poured into a snifter. Hazy golden with medium white head. Aroma is yeast, medium/light body, medium carbonation, and a little lacing. Taste is dry yeast and a little herbal hops.

750 ml corked and caged bottle poured into a brandy snifter. The beer is a clear yellow with a big head of white foam. The aroma has big fruity character, some funky, straw like nuances, tropical fruits. Taste has moderate acidity and earthy sweetness. Low bitterness. Spritzy carbonation and medium body. Delicious stuff.
