A West Country Legend
Developed by an expert team of Somerset Master Cider Makers, tasked with crafting a cider to beat all others, Blackthorn is made using a secret blend of bittersweet cider apples, delivering a distinctive and unforgettable medium-dry taste that remains true to its Somerset roots.
As tastes have changed Blackthorn has become a little less dry in taste. However we still press English bittersweet cider apples to deliver its distinctive crispness.

Note: This is the regular UK version. It is believed there are export variants for some countries based on this version. There is also a 6.0% version for export to North America. And there is a 5.0% Blackthorn Dry version, only available in the English West Country. Please take into account where you found it and check abv carefully in determining where to place your rating.

Pretty nasty, but drinkable. Has a typical wheaty aftertaste with a mix of red and green apples. Slightly sour, slightly sweet, this is an alternative to Strongbow in some of the less than salubrious bars. Tried on draught many years ago.

440ml can. Pale gold and fizzy. Sweet, industrial, apple pulp cider with not much of a finish. Not for me.

BBHansen (951) - Køge, DENMARK - JUL 5, 2015
can @ friends/the chef. Appearance: pours clear golden with ok short lived white soapy head and lacing. aroma/taste: wide range of apples and some woody notes. palette: medium aroma, low carbonation, medium body, average sweetness, well balanced by acidity, medium duration and a watery texture. Overall: nice well balanced cider.

440ml can from the local Scotmid. Looks like Irn-Bru and, to some extent, tastes like Irn-Bru. Pours golden orange, like cheap marmalade, no head. Aromas are cooked apples. Taste as previously mentioned. Chalky, mineral notes, sweet. Watery on the finish.

Bottle. 4.5%. Orange. Smells of sweet apples, faintly musty and some skin. But there’s not much sign of anything in the taste. Some apples, but pretty sugar watery. A very slight move towards dryness at the end. Pretty basic. They could’ve tried putting some cider apples in it.

Lore (2827) - Budapest, HUNGARY - FEB 16, 2014
golden colour, aroma and taste of apple with some earthy notes; ok carbonation; typical dry cider

MichaelAwesome (6546) - Wanne-Eickel, GERMANY - JUL 28, 2013
You get what you see. Classic cider with a classic quite orange colour, aromas f oranges, apples and sugar. Drinkable, refreshing, average. Some extra points for a sour refreshment at 33 degrees at home.

McTapps (6941) - Reutlingen, GERMANY - JUL 28, 2013
Can. Pours out in a clear amber colour with medium body. Nose of red apples. Taste of light green apples, grass, caramel and torf. Crisp and dry finish. Enjoyed it, it is a clearly refreshing and good drinkable cider but just lacks body and deepness.

SarkyNorthener (4722) - West Bromwich (Yorkshire Expat), West Midlands, ENGLAND - JUN 28, 2013
Can. Very pale golden cider. Aroma of soda water as mentioned previously. Taste is dry tart apples. Very watery. Not good.
