COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Blake’s Beard Bender is a 100% natural hard cider. It’s funny – when nothing’s added, you taste the true characteristics of the apple. Not for the faint of heart, Beard Bender packs a punch not expected from hard cider. Derived from a variety of Bittersweet and Bittersharp apples. Beard Bender is tart, crisp and amazingly drinkable. And, of course, 100% grown at Blake Farms in Armada, Mi.

I have only found it in cans in my area which may affect my experience. I like that it is not overly sweet like many ciders, but when drinking more than one the bitterness can get overpowering.

Can from Whole Foods. Hazy gold with minimal head. Apple in the nose, tart flavor, akin to Granny Smiths, with a champagney finish. Stays very tart.

Very dry. Not sweet at all. Taste like watered down white dry wine. Sad tasting cider.

12 oz. can split with Boo; from Old Town. Aroma: Off-dry bittersweet apple juice with lighter spicy and botanical accents. Appearance: Filtered yellow light gold with average carbonation but no head formation. Flavor: Off dry bittersweet juice up front that never creeps anywhere close to cloying; the finish has the lighter, clove-like botanical spice mentioned previously. Palate: Medium body, sticky texture, average carbonation, abrupt finish. Overall: Well made, well priced and available even at grocers around here, so one I’d definitely buy over most any other mass market product if my options were limited.

Tap at the source. Pours pale yellow color, white head. Aroma is apple, pear, actually fairly dry. Flavor is apple, pear, slightly tart granny Smith flavor, again, pretty dry. Nice effervescent. I can dig that.

355ml can. It is a semi-dry cider with a fair bit of tartness, it is earthy and very raw and basic.

rumproasts (6052) - Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA - DEC 19, 2015
can. Golden with small head. Not a terribly unique cider, but solid apple flavor, well balanced between sweet and tart. What’s not to like here?

Bottle. Poured clear pale color with a small frothy white head that diminished slowly with fair legs. Medium floral sweet apple aroma. Medium body with a smooth texture and soft legs. Medium sweet apple flavor with a medium sweet finish of moderate duration. Soft drinkable cider.
