draft sampler at the source. poured a medium brown with no head. mild to medium roasted malts and a dirty earthy aroma. the flavor was great nice brown ale flavor of medium malt and a minimal sweetness then the dirty earthy flavor kicked in. overall the flavor was fantastic the body was great. well done even it just sounds weird. Draft. This beer has an incredible pallet and a crazy complexity to it. I normally am not a fan of mushroons at all, but this beer blew me away. JStax (6462) - Devola/Marietta, Ohio, USA - JUN 21, 2015
Draft sample. The beer is a darker brown with a khaki head of foam. The aroma has a nice earthy, somewhat musty character. As I drink, I pick up on how much it actually reminds me of mushroom, without actually being a mushroom. It has that almost salty, umami quality that I love. Medium body and mouthfeel and moderate carbonation. This would be a great beer to cook with. Especially something like a french onion soup. drsordr (2655) - Loveland, Ohio, USA - FEB 13, 2015
Draft sample at Cincinnati Beerfest 2015 pour hazy copper brown with thin tan head. Nose slightly earthy, toast, toffee. Taste toasted malt, umami, toffee, and light roast. Light bitter finish Ratman197 (14822) - Arvada, Colorado, USA - JAN 2, 2015
Poured a clear reddish amber with a small lasting creamy amber head. Aromas of cocoa, toffee, earthiness and light spice. Palate was medium bodied and smooth. Flavors of cocoa, toffee, spice and light earthiness with a smooth lingering cocoa finish.

Nice brown ale with some additional funky flavors that I can only figure are from the mushrooms. The higher alcohols take this beer out of typical brown ale range but somehow it all works. Very nice. nathan30533 (1020) - Clifton, Ohio, USA - MAR 13, 2014
Great tasting brew. Wonderful appearance. Wonderful tasting. Amazing ale. Balanced. shigadeyo (3739) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - DEC 19, 2013
Blank Slate Shroominous... Up until this beer, I was enjoying everything that I previously had from Blank Slate. I don’t mind some good innovation, but this particular beer is not good. Although it looks like a brown ale, it lacks depth of flavor, malt, and as a weird salty, soy sauce-like flavor. I don’t care for this at all. Draught (pint) at Gordo’s in Cincinnati, Ohio. alexsdad06 (10376) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - AUG 24, 2013
Draft samples at various places. Pours brown in color with a medium sized off white head. The aroma and flavor have some toasted malt, mild chocolate notes, a lightly nutty character, some big earthy notes from the mushrooms no doubt with mild bitterness to the finish. Not your standard brown ale and for that I am thankful because this is quite good. b3shine (8864) - Indiana, USA - AUG 3, 2013
Draft to taster. Looks good; a fairly transparent amberish brown with thin head that falls somewhere between off-white and light beige. Smells of caramel malt with a touch of earthiness. Tastes like it smells with a nice, smooth mouthfeel. Solid beer.
