From bottle, @ BCTC. Pours a dark brown, almost black, body with a small fizzy brown head. Smells just like I’d expect it, nice light bacon and campfire smokiness with chocolate and roast. The flavor is really very lightly smoky with some ashy burnt and roasty malt. Dry, with a bit of astringency on the finish. Light to medium bodied with soft fizzy spritzy carbonation. Finishes dry and roasty. Decent, but it could have used a good bit more smokiness. argo0 (14127) - Washington DC, USA - SEP 16, 2009
(BCTC, 22oz bottle) Medium brown head atop brown-black body. Aroma is moderately sweet, bittersweet chocolate, smoke, light roast. Taste is medium sweet, bittersweet chocolate, some smoke, roast. Light-medium body. PilsnerPeter (3050) - Flushing, New York, USA - AUG 7, 2009
Bottle: Deep brown pour with a light brown, thick and well retained head. Smoked chocolaty aroma- richly malty with a peat and earthy wood campfire character. Chewy/silky feel. Smoky flavor- not over the top- just some woody peat and roasted chocolate malts. With a toasted lingering finish. Nice and earthy. A well done Smoked. yobdoog (1888) - Kingston, New York, USA - AUG 6, 2009
Dark black and a bit thick. Aroma is nice and sweet, chocolate and nice level of roast. Flavor is sweet and a bit milky with some smoke and chocolate. Some smoke and bitterness hang on. Nice. daknole (11402) - Scottsdale, Arizona, USA - AUG 5, 2009
Shared by Mark at cigar city! Dark pour, medium tan head. Ashy, smokey and chocolate aroma. Flavor follows suit. Some charcoal, charred wood, chocolate, coffee, smoke and some bitterness. Very fun beer to try.

Bottle at BCTC. Pours a brown to black with a thin tan head. Smoke and caramel on the nose. The smoke has held up nicely. Thin to medium bodied, some more smoke and roast. Finishes with a light bitterness.

Thanks to Mark for bringing this one to the BB Big Sound Release- you’re the man! Pours dark porter black with a tan head. Nose is smoke: ashtray and charcoal, and some noticeable dark chocolate and some coffee bitterness. Flavor is similar with mellow smoke, enough to notice but not enough to prohibit drinkability. Medium bodied beer with a bit of a stick mouthfeel. Overall: interesting and NOT my style at all. fonefan (51099) - VestJylland, DENMARK - JUL 9, 2009

Clear dark brown color with a average to large, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, roasted, smoke, wood, burnt notes, light to moderate hoppy. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet and bitter with a average to long duration - smoked. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft.
Bottle at home ... with Jan and charlotte ... Deep black ... thin lacing ... light smoke and roast malt ... deep malt again a little smokey woody ... quite a bit of hop in background ... decent solid porter. BlackForestCO (1288) - Aurora, Colorado, USA - FEB 24, 2009
Bottle shared by a generous local, thanks dude. Poured a deep brown/black color with a moderate beige head that faded to a thin layer. Sweet, smoky aroma with hints of applewood, meat, light chocolate, and a hint of roast. Smooth, lightly sweet entry with some light hints of meat lead into a nice smokiness with a light roasted undertone paired with a good applewood flavor that finishes lightly dry and lingers a bit on the palate. Low carbonation, but a bit thin on the palate. It was easy to drink, but some more body could have made this brew awesome.
