Dark reddidsh copper color with a light tan head.
Nose is cinnamon, dark fruits, nuts, bread, caramel and slight amounts of brandy. Slightly muted at first but grew as it warmed.
Taste is a little more bread l with slight spices, cinnamon, dark fruits and splashes of brandy. Well balanced but quite soft.
Medium feel, light carbonation. Not as coating as thought it could or should be for the style. Still nice though
UPDATED: AUG 2, 2017 Sampled at the RBSG 2017 Grand Tasting. In my tasting glass this was a clear amber bronw with a tan head. Nose of sweet malts and ripe fruit. Full in body, and creamy in the mouth. The flavor is awesome. There are figs of course, but also plums and raisins. Finishes with lots of brandy. 375ml bottle from an IP Fizzbook trade. Poured a murky dark chocolate brown under an average sized deep beige frothy head. The ingredients combine to give this an aroma of fresh banana bread toast. Flavor is figs, cake, brandy, wood, touch of chocolate, dates, brown bread and dough. Medium palate, slick mouthfeel, average carbonation, heat lingers long after the swallow. Tap. Brown color with small tan ring. Aroma is tobacco, oak sugar, molasses, raisins. Taste is raisins, lots of oak sugar, brandy burn. Medium carbonation. Quite sweet, a bit too unbalanced. Not excellent. treign (31) - Bend, Oregon, USA - JAN 10, 2017
Poured from a growler. Murky brown color with a thin white head. Aroma is brandy, booze, sweet figs and molasses. Flavor is very much the same with a touch of vanilla. Alcohol is masked much more in the flavor than it is in the nose. Mouthfeel is a little watery but doesn’t detract from the flavor. Solid beer from a great brewery.

On tap @ Chuck’s CD. Pours slightly watery dark blackish brown with thin mocha head that fades instantly. Aroma is fresh figs, dried apricots, caramel, and sweet boozy brandy. Taste is toasted dark caramel malt, molasses, vanilla, cinnamon, and figs. Loads of figs and brandy - if you like those, you’ll love this. Rich unique flavors without being cloying. On tap at Beer Baron in Pleasanton. It pours a dark brown color with a creamy khaki head. The aroma has caramel, bread, figs, raisin and a little bourbon. The flavor is smooth with lots of sweet caramel, bread, bourbon and fig. Pretty true to the name and description. A little more oak and bourbon in the finish with plummy raisins. Pretty good. The alcohol is strong. I’d say this is more of a barleywine than anything else.
