T: Quite sour, lightly sweet.

O: Another excellent sour from a great brewer. This style usually doesn’t work for me, but this is excellent. BuckeyeBoy (7534) - Boise, Idaho, USA - AUG 31, 2016

Brouwer’s Sour Fest 2016. SBW. Stout-like black with some big ring bubbles. Chalky brown mouth, red wine must fermentation. Barrel like vanilla, tart red malt finish. ruddy, somewhat unexpected. Harsh in a good way. I like it. andrewje41 (3763) - Kenmore, Washington, USA - DEC 6, 2015
Draft 6 oz pour at the Brouwer’s Big Wood. Pours black with a tan soap bubble head. Vinegar aroma with some red wine feature. Oaky, cherry heavy, slight balsamic, and a nice tart finish. Unique and delicous. Black cherry lingers. Good stuff. jkwood04 (5448) - Connecticut, USA - NOV 22, 2014

Poured from tap to glass. Dark hue with reddish tint and tan head. Aroma is cherry, cereal malt, grapes, wood, vanilla, biscuit. Taste is nice with a medium body and good carbonation. Taste is semi dry with a malty tart following and slightly wood astringent ethanol finish. Overall this is a nice brew. hopdog (12348) - Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA - DEC 23, 2013
750ml bottle. Poured a dark brown color with an off white head. Earthy, wood, vanilla, vinous, some bourbon, and some dark fruits. douglas88 (9058) - Portland, Oregon, USA - NOV 2, 2013
750 ml bottle. Pours a almost jet black color with a large beige head. A sour malty nose, vinous and oak. The flavor is interesting and easygoing: cherries, tartness, wine, dry white wine mostly, berries, the base saison comes in with almost funky dryness. I think this works well. The light roasted flavors are nice as well. Great brew. Treebs (872) - , Illinois, USA - SEP 29, 2013
Bottle shared by kevanb at the Local Option event. Most recent vintage served in a snifter.
A: Pours a dark purple color with an off white head forming on the pour. It recedes to a thin ring that leaves some splotchy lace down teh glass.
S: Tart cherries on the nose with the pinot barrel coming through, some oak and a faint hint of the base saison with some fruity yeasty and esters.
T: The saison base comes through a little more in the taste with some stone fruit esters and peppery yeasty. Tart cherries, some oak, a little pinot and some must.
M: Medium light bodied with a medium carbonation level. Dry finish.
O: This was a weird beer. There’s a lot going on, but thankfully the base saison wasn’t too lost with all the barrel treatments and adjuncts added. Definitely interesting.
