Bottle from DA. Shared this with a few buddies the other day and wow was this thing a treat. Silky and smooth with characteristics of charred oak and Belgian dark chocolate with just a hint of bourbon. I liked how all the flavors came together in a symphony of goodness on the palate. Another great one from Block 15.

Tmoney99 (14985) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - MAR 27, 2017
Bottle shared by alexsdad06. Poured clear dark brown color with a moderate frothy tan head that mostly lasted with fair lacing. Medium toasted malt with a small bourbon alcohol aroma. Medium to full body with a creamy texture and flat carbonation. Medium to heavy toasted chocolate malt flavor with a medium to heavy bourbon sweet finish of medium to long duration. This is a solid beer.

750 ml bottle shared with Tmoney99 and the Dutch’s crew. Pours a dark cola brown to black color with a small beige head. The aroma and flavor have chocolate, vanilla, dark fruit, roasted malt, mild barrel notes, seems a hint tart but that is my fault for sitting on this, I’m sure this would have been a standout fresh.

Bottle shared during RBWG 2014 - Asheville. Pours oily dark brown with a creamy, beige head. Rich and decadent, with notes of alcohol, torched wood, dark chocolate, baking cocoa. Full bodied with fine to average carbonation. Warming finish with thick chocolate, more bittersweet baking cocoa. Very solid.

From notes. Enjoyed this one over at Chris’s house on March 26 for a beer and smoked meats get together. The pour is a nice dark black, but there is a noticeable lack of carbonation. It pours like a thin oil, no head to be found, and comes off as a little thin for it. The aroma is huge on the malts. There is a little dark cocoa and some heavy licorice here. It’s almost a fruity licorice, there’s so much. The bourbon is definitely present, but doesn’t add an oakiness or vanilla note. The flavor is a little off. There is a strong malt and a ton of licorice, so it’s hard to ignore them. There is a little bit of a tartness to the flavor. Like a sharp dark fruit. There is definitely some alcohol and a little bit of a bourbon zing. The mouth feel is flat and thin. It’s watery with no carbonation and it just falls off the tongue with speed. The aftertaste is lingeringly boozy and dominated by bitter brewer’s licorice. It’s intense, but not at all what I was hoping for from the touted Block 15.
