Good dark beer with a pleasent aftertaste. Great sipping beer..............
Sampled at the brewpub. A lot of beige foam leaves a layer on the glass. An earthy malty and grainy beer. It seems to be an authentic version. It is a style I always enjoy and am happy to see available in the US. Very light hop notes give just a little bitternress. Soft fruit is nice. Sweet rich malts carry this one. I like it and could drink a lot of this. But now I look at the ABV and question my life as a beer ticker! radagast83 (8301) - Arlington, Virginia, USA - JUL 31, 2013
Draft at the brewpub. This beer poured a dark, caramel color with a nice light tan, creamy head. Aroma was notes of sweet caramel notes, some dried fruits. Flavor was nice caramel notes, touch of fruits, light bitterness. Pawola22 (3262) - Woodridge, Illinois, USA - JAN 24, 2013
On tap at the brewpub. Pours a cloudy brown-amber colored body with a finger-width, dense and foamy, light brown head that dissipates slowly and leaves a soapy lacing. Aroma is medium sweet caramels with a touch of bready toffee, a few fruity esters, and a light grass. Flavor is similar. Caramels, some toffee bread, a few fruity esters, and a light grassy bitterness. Finishes clean and smooth before leaving a fairly lengthy aftertaste. Medium body and a moderate carbonation. Overall, a straightforward English Ale. Nothing special, but not bad. BVery (11223) - Plymouth, Minnesota, USA - OCT 20, 2012
Tap at the brewpub. Slightly hazy reddish brown pour. Minimal head. Caramel and toffee sweetness. Earthy malts. Pretty nice. timc100 (314) - Park Ridge, Illinois, USA - SEP 2, 2012
Really solid beer from a cool brewpub. Dark brown with a khaki head, mild nose. Taste’s of caramel malt sweetness, slight alcohol, not very bitter and overall nutty.

Good. Tasty just the right amount of hops. Order it if in town. Of not in town drive here and get a hotel you are going to needed it after visiting and drinking all the betas here. tronraner (2459) - Walland, Tennessee, USA - SEP 20, 2011
Draught at the brewpub. Pours very dark mahogany with beige head. The aroma is pitted fruits, a little bit of oak, a little bit of caramel, and little hints of artificial banana. The flavor is peanut shells, a little bit of caramel, and earthy bitterness. The peanut shell taste lingers into the aftertaste. DrnkMcDermott (3130) - Downers Grove, Illinois, USA - SEP 6, 2011
Taster at the brewpub. Nut brown malt smell, with not much hop in the nose. A thin, brown head. Taste has a dollop of chocolate up front. I’m noticing the whole establishment has a sort of estery smell, like they just pitched yeast in the brewhouse, and that may permeate to the beer I’m drinking. A backing of toffee in the malt after a few sips. Quite warm and filling. Just a note of light alcohol in the finish. DalzAle (2038) - Eden Prairie, Minnesota, USA - JUL 20, 2011
On tap. Clear, very dark brown pour, lasting carbonation and a sweet aroma of a little dark fruit. Flavor was nice rich dark caramel and a little nutty with a pleasant warming aftertaste. Solid beer, I would buy this all the time during the fall & winter if I lived nearby. topherh (1929) - Kearney, Missouri, USA - JUN 29, 2011
Pours reddish brown with a thin beige head. Aroma is caramel, light roast, brown sugar, with an herbal note. Flavor is burnt caramel, earthy notes, herbal hops, and some boozy notes.
