New Mexico Beer Fest. Brown color fluffy tan head. Cocoa powder aroma. Sweet chocolate taste. Nicce Derek881 (1272) - Denver, Colorado, USA - MAY 31, 2017
Enjoyed a pint of this beer on tap at the brewery in Santa Fe. The beer had a rich dark brown to black color with a modest, creamy off-white head with average retention and good cling and lacing. Its aroma featured a wide mix of roasty malt notes, include chocolate and coffee, along with oats and caramel, and a bit of bread and barley hops. Its taste was somewhat sweet and malty with a blend of caramel, bread, oats, and lighter touches of chocolate and grain. The beer had a slightly creamy, but mostly wet and watery bottle with average carbonation and a smooth, rich mouthfeel. Pretty good beer overall, even in warmer weather. hayduke (5702) - Eureka, California, USA - OCT 16, 2015
Sampled at GABF 2015. In the sample glass was dark brown, Tan foam. Nose of chocolate and coffee. Some fruit maybe. Medium plus body. Creamy mouth feel. Flavor is rich and full of the chocolate and coffee with the fruit showing up. A good bitter near perfect finish. Very good. I could drink a pint of this in heartbeat. Beer 30 of NM 100. Nice oaty aroma. Very true to style. My only complaint is a slight cherry flavor. Finishes nicely dry and chalky.

Draft. Dark brown pour with small tan head. Typical malt and coffee notes. Smooth and light body but nothing that really sets this one apart. maltman53 (472) - Corrales, New Mexico, USA - DEC 23, 2013
On tap at the brewery, pours a mahogany color, with a tan head. Aroma is all chocolate and roast. Full-bodied with a nice level of CO2. Flavors are chocolate, roast, and a little melted black licorice. The finish is clean and smooth (from the oats). cubs (10721) - Fort Collins, Colorado, USA - JAN 2, 2013
