A deep brown stout, slightly see through and relatively strong. A sweet aroma of chocolate and caramel with a coffee and toasted malts flavours with a slightly bitter finish but generally smooth and dry. It is framed by a thick creamy off white head. A generally good beer.

Cask at The Wellington, Birmingham. Poured a deep mahogany colour with a thick tan head. The aroma is somewhat weak malty. The flavour is of fruit, liquorice, chocolate and with a nice smooth bitter palate. One of the nicest stouts Ive ever tasted!

Hand-pulled half-pint in The Wellington Birmingham (West Midlands) on 5th Dec 2012. Stout dark, with a good solid tanned head that produced some impressive lacing on my glass. As youd expect from a stout, this was all malts: toasted, semi-burnt malts to be exact. Those malts gave the beer liquorice, chocolate and coffee flavours: in both the nose and taste, all with equal measures, and along with the hop content gave the the beer a good balanced feel. Nicely put together, sad I could only have the half-pint, but there was more shopping to do according to the lady with me!

Cask @ CPK. Deep reddish brown pour with a creamy khaki head. The nose is mild espresso, hazelnut, coffee creamer and mild chocolate. The taste is nutty candy bar, some chocolate syrup. Smooth and very drinkable. Soft. Overall, quite solid. Good stuff!

Cask conditioned at The Craft Beer Co. Clerkenwell, London. Black with cream head. Rich, malty beer, darkly roasted with charred notes, coffee beans & chocolate then a hint of caramelisation. Bitterness in the finish, pretty decent.

Cask at the Craft Beer Co in Clerkenwell on 5th October 2012. Almost black with thinnish dying head and no lace. Richly caramelly and fruity aroma. Very fruity and somewhat herby in-mouth, with touches of nuttiness, alcohol and cherries. Malty and fruity end with berry fruits lingering. Light, clingy mouthfeel and medium body.

Bottle. Lots of liquorish. Smokey. Black in colour. Oily in the mouth. Very nice but a real winter warmer I would guess.

Cask at the Wellington. Quite a slippery, rather, well slightly hoppy stout. Some crunch charcoal. A bit too cold.
