UPDATED: FEB 4, 2013 Cask conditioned handpump Swan & Rushes Leicester 21/11/12. A golden beer with a whitish head and lace. Lovely citra hops throughout. Juuicy and tropical with a hint of natural sweetness. Fresh flavours. Sharp citrus in the nose. a bit of a bitter sting joins it in the mouth. A good depth of flavour. Lovely. Score 3.8

Cask gravity, Leicester BF, 08/03/12. Pale and brilliant with a slim, loose but lasting head. Peppered jam, lychee, tangerine and urinal aroma. Firm bodied, full and ripe with flowery tangerine hop, juicy biscuit base. Mature and lip-smacking effort from The Monkey- savoured every last drop.

Cask (handpump) at Langtrys, Nottingham on 14 October 2014. Straw colour. Thin white head. Very leafy and tropical on the nose. Extremely juicy on the palate. Decent firm grip too. Fruity aftertaste lingers together with a firm bitterness. Just a touch too much residual sweetness for my taste.

Cask @ GBBF 12. The nose is light raspberry ripple, spun sugar and sugar cookies. The taste is light sugar cookie, some sweet white grapes and lemon. Zippy and refreshing. Light body. Simple, but quite pleasing. Nice.

500ml Bottle - Golden with a white head. Grapefruit, gooseberries, pineapple and mango all feature in the inviting aroma. Hoppy and fairly bitter taste with tangy grapefruit and tropical pineapple, mango and passion fruit all detected. Really nice.

500ml bottle from Ales By Mail

BBE 08/2013 - Pours golden orange with a large foamy head. Aroma of citrusy hops, lemon, grapefruit and grass. Taste is hoppy and mildly caramely with notes of tangy fruits, citrus, grass and grapefruit. Finish is bitter and slightly malty with some tangy notes. Okay, quite basic but tasty pale ale.

Hand-pulled pint in Ye Old Fighting Cocks, Oakengates on 29 Jun 2013. Very pale in looks, weak urine yellow in fact: good white bubbley head that tried to stay the distance, but failed. As youd expect from a brew using Citra hops, this leaned heavily towards a citrus based flavour and aroma. I know this beer is very popular with a lot of Real Ale drinkers and craft beer fans alike, but Im fed up with so may samey tasting brews using citrus flavours to refresh us Brits: I want deep amber brews with a malt and hop balance when I go into a pub, not this new wave of light lager look alikes with lemon duck toilet cleaner as a base! Ive tried to score objectively.
