Overly synthetic. It had a slight blackberry aroma but besides that it was just a forced "fruitier" beer.
Clear deep rosey amber with a thin off white ring of foam. Nice toffee bready malty base on the nose with a spike of blackberry sweetness. Smooth semisweet flavor that’s blackberry purée and a light little bit of bready toffee malt and slight ambery crystal malts. Poured from a 12 ounce bottle. Pours amber with tan head. The aroma is malty with a hint of fruitiness, light berry notes. The flavor is very similar to the aroma. There is a woody, seed like flavor. No tartness.

Hey, you know what a good idea would be? Pour a bunch of sickeningly sweet fruit on top of sickeningly sweet wheat on top of sickeningly sweet malt. We’ll call it tart because it’s got just a pinch of tartness, like 1% tart, 99% sickeningly sweet. If there’s one in the back of your fridge, it’s drinkable. It’s not good beer, though. Bottle. Pours an unimpressive brown with a thin, tan head. Nose is a distant skunk in a low-yield blackberry patch. On the tongue -- it’s an average amber ale that someone might have once hit with a blackberry. No, seriously, where’s the blackberry? They said there was a blackberry in here! 12 oz bottle. Best by 10/19/15. Pours clear brown, egg cream colored head. Aroma is sweet blackberry and blueberry, very malty and sweet. Brown ale malt character. Flavor is not really tart. Not sure why it’s called a tart ale. It’s just sweet really. Sweet black and blueberry, some mild cinnamon and nutmeg notes. It’s not offensive but it’s not particularly good.
