Nice amber body with a thin off-white head. Very warming and inviting aroma of cinnamon and caramel. The palate is relatively light and quite smooth. The flavor devlivers. Smooth and sweet. Cinnamon, caramel, and I swear a bit of apple. Very impressive offering by Blue Moon.
Draft notes. Hazy brown pour with tan head. Nose was earthy brown malt, spice. Tasted like a brown ale with some cinnamon and a watery finish. squareshot (4) - - DEC 14, 2014 does not count
This is the Gingerbread Spiced Ale; I don't taste too much of the standard Blue Moon, but it's there, and the added flavor is surprisingly pleasant and smooth. A nice beer available at the Walgreens, when we can't get to a distributor for crafts and imports…

Appearance – Pours a mahogany color with orange highlights. Upon pouring there is a small white head that fades quickly to give a very light film and very little lacing on the sides of the glass.
Smell – The aroma is heavy of spice. A huge cinnamon and sugar aroma greets the nose. This is mixed with nutmeg and allspice aromas as well. In the background is a light roasted brown bread smell. Overall it has a nice cinnamon toast aroma.
Taste – The taste starts out with a lightly roasted malt flavor mixed with a caramel sweetness. Quickly the spice flavors of cinnamon and nutmeg come to the tongue. They start out relatively strong and get even stronger as the taste advances. While the spice flavors intensify, so too does the sweet caramel. With the caramel also comes a sweet toffee taste. In the end a pleasant sweet and spiced flavor are left to linger on the tongue.
Mouthfeel – The body of the beer are on the average side in terms of creaminess with a carbonation level that is rather average as well. The body and carbonation are good for drinkability and accentuation of the spice and sweet flavors but also provides enough thickness and low enough carbonation to allow all the flavors to linger on the tongue.
Overall – This is a pretty nice spiced brew. It is quite drinkable and has a nice blend of sweet and spice. April 14th, 2012 - The original Blue Moon is a steady friend in dark places. Where the bar’s have little to offer, Blue Moon is usually there, topped with an orange peel, and ready to see you through the night. The flavor variations? Less stolid. This particular cousin of Blue Moon sports a “Spiced” flavor. It was originally marketed for the holidays when we shake cinnamon, cloves, cardamom and sugar on our pastries and treats, so drinking it in April may not be the most appropriate occasion. Even so, I doubt I would have enjoyed this in December, or any other part of the year. Sickly sweet and sticky smells of light brown sugar and cheap barbecue sauce (straight from the fast food restaurant’s tiny cups) make the bulk of the aroma, tinged with a peppery and chaotic spiciness. True to name, these spices are also present in the aroma, providing an unpleasant cinnamon Pop-Tart palate, with some graham cracker notes, and an ill-tasting aftertaste that coats the palate with an unnatural, confusing sugary sweetness. By now I should expect to be punishing myself every time I have a Blue Moon that is gussied up in some awful flavor wardrobe, but I keep trying anyway, because that original brew, while by no means excellent, is so loyally consistent and acceptable that I feel I owe it to Coors to keep trying what they put out.

355ml bottle from Abbot’s Ale House, shared with a friend over some Christmas Pudding in June! Pours a nice ruby amber with lasting reddish head. Gorgeous aroma of cinnamon, cloves, biscuit and a vague minty note. Medium sweetness, with a good spiciness and just a little sharp bitterness. Quite smooth, relatively light despite full and heavy taste. Even when enjoyed in June, this is a great beer, definitely the best Blue Moon seasonal I’ve tried. Similar to the Winter Abbey Ale that I really enjoy. This one is inferior as the taste is a little thinner and the aroma isn’t as pleasant. Might be more enjoyable during wintertime, rather than mid-spring.
