This liquid is the alpha and the omega; you need nothing else. Our flagship imperial stout has been aged in charred American oak bourbon barrels with African cacao nibs and locally roasted coffee. Dark, bitter cocoa blends with sweet malt; robust coffee mellows in the presence of oak-imparted vanilla and bourbon flavors. Enjoy this one at the end of a fine meal with good friends.

Rated 3/24/13. Portion of a 750ml bottle into a Hunahpu’s snifter. From notes. A: Pours a dark brown color. The head is a thin white-shaded collar. S: Chocolaty, with a bit of coffee. I also notice slight caramel and roasted qualities. T: At first, faint chocolate gives way to a vegetal, stale coffee profile. After a couple of sips, it balances out fairly well. The finish has a bit of ’saltiness’ that I enjoy somewhat, too. Barrel influences are very subtle here. M: Rather thin, and not really creamy, either. Still, the sweet/bitter balance is nice. O: Ramp up the body, use better coffee; and we could really be talking about something kickass here. As it stands, it’s a pretty good imperial stout with quite a few glaring flaws.

Nice fresh roasted beginning. Intense dark chocolate, sessionable with a great woody (bourbon) sub-tone. The coffee is there, very dry, the chocolate harmonises great, very round and fresh, bitter in the aftertaste with woody bourbon and coffee there. Nice.

Vollmundig malzig schokoladiger Antrunk. Weiche, allerdings auch alkoholische Noten, Espresso, konstante Würzigkeit. Langer Nachhall, Schokolade, mild herb. 10/10/9/10/12/10

$12.29 bomber from Wine Warehouse. Pours thick and black with a small brown head. Overwhelming aroma of chocolate and dark roasted coffee. Flavor is dark chocolate, a shitload of dark roasted coffee beans. Good.

I looked for this at beer stores in Charlottesville and Roanoke and couldn’t find it. Then it turned up at a Kroger grocery store. It’s really an odd time to be a craft beer fan. This beer pours black with very little foam. The aroma is just baker’s chocolate, dark and rich and sweet and bitter. The flavor is huge dark chocolate too, I don’t pick up on the coffee. The finish has a really nice, roasty, slightly hoppy twist. It’s delicious.

Bottle. Pours deep black with beige head. Aroma of dark chocolate and coffee with bourbon notes. In taste mainly fine dark and bitter chocolate with nice roastiness from coffee. In aftertaste notes of vanilla. Great on the palate, the beer is really oily and creamy, full bodied. Alcohol very well hidden, finish is roasty. Not as complex as it could be but all flavours that are there are very strong and nicely mixed. Very solid brew.

Draft at fire works. Pours black with a thin khaki head. Big bourbon on the nose. Lots of bourbon on the tongue along with the roasted malt. Not getting the coffee notes though the malt does suggest chocolate. Hides it's booze well. Nice overall but only solid for style. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
