COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Dark Hollow blends the miracle of two crafts--brewing and distillation--to create a work greater than the sum of its parts. An Imperial Stout has been aged in charred American oak bourbon barrels still dripping with uncut whiskey. For 100 days the young beer patiently breathes in and out of the wood, gaining complexity, character, and serious attitude. This ale is always bottle conditioned and can be enjoyed immediately upon its release from the brewery...or five years later, when you dust off the last vintage bottle from your cellar to share with good company.

Bottle thanks to ratcat197. Pitch black with almost no head. Strong coffee and bitterness. Moderate vanilla and booze. Good balance. Not hot. Sticky. Yum.

First beer I've rated in a while. Black body small tan suds light and very bubbly in the palate. Alcohol a bit noticeable. Don't really taste much of the oakyness, but good selection. - Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle to snifter. Nice bourbon and chocolate flavors are masked by an odd sour aroma and flavor. I made a lot of faces.

Bottle courtesy of my wife and her trip back to VA. Colour....basically black with a thick tan head. Nose...sweet, malty, chocolatey, Ovaltine and cocoa. Palate...slick, slippery, creamy. There’s plenty of milky chocolate and roasted nuts and then the barrel comes through on the palate. I don’t suppose they’ll distro in Oregon anytime soon???

Pour out of 750 mL bottle, thick black pour with thin tan head, aroma brought notes of dark fruits, licorice, hints of dark chocolate, espresso bean, slight roast notes as well in there, touch of oaky notes as well. Taste is a mix of dark chocolate, roast, coffee, hints of dark fruit, anise, slight oak, vanilla, finishing roasted, dry. Pretty tasty.

Lidt skuffende men bestemt drikbar.

Bottle at home - shared with Mette. Black - white head. Chocolate. Licorice. Nice burned malts. Light alcoholic. Dried fruits. Light coffee. Coconut. Light bourbon notes. Sharp hoppy notes.

Bomber into snifter glass. Deep dark brown with dark tan head. Aroma of thick roast malt sweetness, chocolate, coffee, caramel, dark fruit, vanilla, and wood notes. Taste adds notes of dark chocolate, booze, espresso, more wood (pretty tannic), whiskey and light earthy bitterness. Heavy body, low carbonation, roasty, woody with lingering roast finish. Oak bourbon barrels seems to play a larger role in this compared to others, I love bourbon though so this is great. The cork on my bottle said "best by May 2013" but this still tastes great in October.

750ml->snifter. Black with medium frothy lite brown head. A: coffe, chocolate malt, booze. Tastes just like an Irish coffee. Very good.

Bottle. Pours dark brown, with a brown head. Aroma is chocolate, dark fruit, vanilla, bourbon, and roasted malt. Flavor is roasted malt, dark fruit, coffee, chocolate, wood, and vanilla. Medium body. The flavor isn’t as good as the aroma, but this is still quite good.
