12oz can. Pours a clear amber color with a one finger dense foamy head that that leaves some lacing. Aroma is grainy and grassy, with a hint of citrus. Taste has malt flavors of biscuit and bread that are well balanced with pine, grassy and grapefruit hops. A nice piney bitterness lingers through the finish. Medium bodied and somewhat creamy with moderate carbonation.

October 2012. One of the better VA pale ales Iíve found. Nice bitter finish from this one. Amber color, malt, citrus, fruity aromas. jackl (8029) - Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA - JUL 20, 2013
Bottle @ Bizou, Cíville. The pourís amber with a small head. The nose is toast, orange peel. A bit of fresh-cut grass. Slightly herbal. Not a massive, expressive nose. A bit faded. The taste is caramel-dipped orange peel. Toasted brown bread. Caramel malt. Mildly bitter on the finish. Medium body, fine carbonation. Overall, probably not the freshest bottle out there. Iíll have to revisit. durhambeer (2500) - Durham, North Carolina, USA - JUL 9, 2013
UPDATED: JUL 10, 2013 Draft at Geer Street Garden. Well balanced and decently malty but not overly sweet pale ale. bartlebier (3946) - Belchium im Biersgau, GERMANY - JUL 4, 2013
(US backlog 2012) 8x draught sample flight + full pint at VA brewpub 14/ix/12. Standout beer in the flight, a conventional but well-executioned APA with a modest but home-made feel and taste to it, especially in the hops: leafy, orange zest, candied touches. Bit unstable, but worth ordering a full pint of - would like to try this signature beer from a can/bottle.

Can. Clear deep golden amber color, thick, bright white head, solid lacing. Aroma of fresh lime. Taste is bitter citrus. Interesting. jrob21 (3663) - Atlanta, Georgia, USA - JUN 8, 2013
12 oz from beer run. Grassy kind of fruity aroma. Flavor has much the same with a mild hop profile, full body and lots of caramel malt. Finish has a little bit of red fruit and a grassy hay herbal finish. Arayaga2 (2190) - portland, Oregon, USA - JUN 3, 2013
Chestnut colored with an inch of tan head. Aroma is sweet, juicy citrus, with some floral notes. All this comes through in the taste, and itís extremely drinkable. $2/12oz keanex (1799) - Atco, New Jersey, USA - MAY 31, 2013

Appearance: The body is a clear amber to copper with a towering light tan head. The head has excellent retention with a very dense consistency and leaves a lot of lacing.
Aroma: Light grapefruit, orange and floral notes are met by caramel and toasted malts. This is a classic aroma for the style, though I wish the hops had a little more presence.
Taste: Sweet caramel is on the intro followed quickly by sweet orange and slightly bitter grapefruit. The finish is of toasted malts and a floral dryness, the finish sticks around for a bit. Bitterness is mild to moderate.
Palate: Medium body with moderate carbonation.
Overall: This is a classic take on the style. The citrusy and floral hops are balanced nicely by the toasted and caramel malts. The price is the only deterrence here, $13 for a six pack of a slightly better Sierra Nevada Pale Ale makes this a pass for me every time. If this were $9 for a 6 pack then I would consider it over SNPA.
12 oz can served in a snifter. Dark, clear amber -- a bit darker than average for style -- with a near creamy bone colored head that has moderate retention and very good lacing. More flavorful, including a tad more hoppy, than average, with a nice mix of fruity/herbal/grassy hops.
