COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Prost! Our festbier lager has finally arrived! Named in honor of the beautiful view majestic Humpback Mountain offers our brewery to the Southwest, Humpbock is the quintessential Fall brew. Once served in Munich for the celebration of Crown Prince Ludwig’s wedding, Oktoberfest lager (also called Märzenbier, as it is brewed in March for a Fall release) has become a traditional September-October beer the world over. Our version uses the eponymous Munich malt in combination with Pils and Vienna malts and is hopped exclusively with the noble Hallertau variety hop. Deep malty flavors dominate this quaffable beer. 26 IBUs.

Off taps at brewery. Classic Munich Vienna malt profile in aroma. Clear amber orange with lasting fine white head. Classic marzen malt and hop profile. Medium body with medium/full mouthfeel. Dry crisp finish with moderate bitterness. Very Nice.

Served on draft at the brewery, initially as part of a sampler (I needed a couple of rerates) and then in the monster 24 oz. stein. Woot! Clear honey colored with a thin mottled looking head. The aroma is caramel, banana, grain, toffee and subtle noble hops. The taste is caramel, banana, hops, grain and some herbal and earthy notes. Medium body and lively carbonation.

A crisp, coppery-toned amber, topped with a nice, creamy head that’s ever-so-slightly offwhite. A sharp, toasted amlt aroma with a hop edge and spiciness that is not so common in others I have had of the style. Interesting. Quite a full-flavoured märzen! A notable flavour of the Hallertau hops, imparting quite an herbal touch which isn’t so much bitter, but strong enough to pair up with the malts quite sizeably. A spiciness to it that I would presume is just straight up freshness. Sharp and crisp with a little zippy sting of carbonation on the tip of the tongue. A medium body with a little heft to it. Goes down pretty easily, though that flavour can get a bit strong over the course of a glass. Good stuff, though, and something I truly wish were bottled. I’d like to have a few of these sitting around for later. Still another month of it, though, so that will have to do!
