COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Behold the subtle power of a beer whose simplicity of elements belies its complex spirit. Pilsener malt, noble Hallertau hops, lager yeast, and deep well water. By scaling up these simple ingredients we’ve turned the German pilsener "imperial" and made one of the world’s most refreshing styles of beer bigger, rounder and even more enjoyable.

Drake (13739) - Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA - JUL 3, 2009
Sampled on draft at the 2nd annual Virginia Beer Festival at Capital Ale House Midlothian. Pours a clear golden color with a thin head. Fair head retention and lacing. Aroma of grainy malts with strong earthy, spicy hop notes. Taste is very bitterly hoppy with spicy notes. Also fruity peach notes and caramel. Full bodied. Blue Mountain impresses.... again.

Bov (12636) - Bienne, SWITZERLAND - DEC 18, 2013
from Erzbierschof - clear bright golden beer with a long lasting white foam; light notes of cork, chewy fruityness (apples, pears and hints of banana); full-bodied and with some sweetness, subtle carbonation and decent bitterness; light notes of alcohol in the finish; residual sugars and more fruity hops

Bottle 750ml @ fonefan
Pours clear golden with a off-white head. Aroma has notes of malt, caramel, floral and alcohol. Taste is medium sweet and light bitter. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft.

DocLock (10702) - Lower Pottsgrove, Pennsylvania, USA - MAY 29, 2014
750 cc from Whole Foods. Pours heavily effervescent gold with 3-finger frothy white head. Nose is pale malt, hops, caro syrup. Tastes somewhat sweet, with honey and sugar syrup notes, pale malt, heavy hops, and a complex finish. Starts and stays somewhat hot. Not a technical masterpiece by any means, but an interesting example of this style, and a well above average beer to get you to your limit tonight.

Cask Stillage from the Jug at the GABF, Colorado Convention Center 25/09/2009 Floral hop aroma. Clear golden coloured and hoppy with some citrus flavour. Crisp and slightly dry malt finish.

Sampled and then thrown (unintentionally) thrown on the floor. I cant believe this beer is rated so high. Pots a clear yellow golden body with thick white head. Aroma is reminiscient of lionshead. Mouthfeel is thin and grainy with notes of a cheap pale, grainy lager. Bland. Eh.

Braudog (6716) - Yorktown, Virginia, USA - DEC 16, 2012
Bottle, caged and corked. Drowning my football sorrows. I love the artwork on the bottle. Pours like an imperial pilsner should, I suppose ... deep golden, slightly hazy, with a giant, firm head. The nose is sweet and slightly lemony-citric. This drinks exceptionally smooth, easy to gulp, little to hint at some 7.6% ABV. Full-bodied for sure. This is some really good stuff ... Location: Draft at Amity Hall, 9/27/13

Aroma: The nose has some earthy hops, grass, spice, grains, some citrus, and floral notes
Appearance: It pours a hazy golden color with a decent sized head and medium lace
Flavor: The taste is well-balanced, malty, grassy, earthy, and grainy, with some fruity notes
Palate: The body is medium, it has a crisp feel, average carbonation, and a dry finish
Overall Impression: I thought this one was really quite enjoyable. I’ve been pretty impressed with Blue Mountain lately. Between the likes of Hardywood, Blue Mountain, Devil’s Backbone, and the classic Legend (among others), my home state is turning into quite the beer state. Virginia represent!

mansquito (6438) - Nueva York, New York, USA - JUL 24, 2012
Pizzeria Paradiso, Alexandria tap ($8): Pours some sort of orange color with a white head. Aroma is mostly malty, with some hoppiness in there. Not much crispness up in here; however, this is very smooth and the alcohol does not eliminate all of the pilsener qualities. Alcohol is well-covered in any case. This is an OK, but somewhat forgettable imperial pils.

obguthr (6358) - Staunton, Virginia, USA - JUN 25, 2014
Mild aroma, possibly corn. Crystal clear amber, headless. Honey, hay, cereal grain, good intensity and richness of flavor. Grass and husk bitterness, but certainly a malt forward German style pilsner, aside from the intensity.
