Blue Point Octoberfest is another palate-pleasing seasonal brew. Originally brewed in 1810 to celebrate the betrothal of the Crown Prince of Bavaria, Blue Point continues the celebration by traditionally brewing this special malty amber lager every October. Octoberfest lager is stored cold for 2 months to ensure its distinct smooth flavor. Tap a pint and celebrate the season!

Couleur ambrée, bonne mousse blanche. Nez malté, céréales. Gout malté doux, note foin et petite amertume. Pas trop mal pour une oktoberfest.

Bottle pour. Clean orange with small white head. Limited lacing. Not much nose. Some corn-esque sweetness on warming. Taste is on the thin side. Decent malt, though watery. Eh

Golden straw in color. A really, really big foam head with really nice carbonation. Good lacing around glass. Sweet toffee malt aroma with a slightly spicy hop bouquet. A sweet toffee caramel malt taste with just a little bit of roastiness. I also taste butterscotch. Biscuit finish. Hops are present but just for bittering and balance, I don’t really pick up any hop character. I deem this beer good tasting and would enjoy a few more but, alas, I have not.

The body has a deep golden to light amber color with very good clarity and lots of carbonation. Its head is just off white in color and fades down quickly to just a wispy thin layer which makes very little lacing. In the nose there are notes of pale light malt, biscuits and a very light touch of herbal/floral hops. There is also a light sweetness and something that reminds me of smartlys candy. It has a base of light roasted malt, grain and some biscuity flavors with mild sweetness. Hop flavor is light, mostly floral with some leafy and citrus notes on the finish. The finish also has the mildly sweet malt turning dry and crisp with more of a raw grain and husk character. The body has a light to medium feel and its carbonation is quite lively and a bit fizzy on the palate.

Bottle at home. Pours clear copper with a medium, creamy off-white head, long retention with light lacing. Aroma is toast and nutty malt, dates, and light spicy hops. Flavor is melanoidin malt dominant, light hops and bitterness, a clean lager character and a sweet finish. Medium body and carbonation.

Sweet and malty , on the thin side even for an Oktoberfest caramel, toast, nuts, flavor

Travlr (24286) - Charlotte, North Carolina, USA - OCT 18, 2013
Draft. Dark golden amber color, medium tan head. Aroma of fresh hay, light pepper, flowers. Taste has biscuit, subtle black pepper, apple, pear. Very nice.

trapped (3083) - New York, TURKEY - OCT 15, 2013
Drought. Light amber color with small whitish foamy head, faint grassy aroma, fizzy, very little hops, abrupt finish. Not very remarkable.
