On tap at Pinocchio’s. One of the best black IPA’s that I’ve had! Dark as night pour, frothy head. Cocoa aroma. Hops are citrus, sweet cocoa and roast, a touch a milky lactic acid. Smooth and creamy mouthfeel. Pretty good. Boliv (1150) - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA - JAN 14, 2012
Growler. Pours very dark garnet red, clear, with a 2-finger frothy/creamy light brown head. Aromas of cocoa and roasted malt, earthy notes (leaves, bark), some vanilla, coffee, and slightly sweet Tootsie Roll notes. Flavors of bitter roasty malt, sweet caramel, and mocha. Medium carbonation and body, with a dry finish. Easy-drinking; good. BMan1113VR (7931) - Los Angeles, California, USA - JAN 7, 2012
On cask at Blind Tiger. Pours with a thick black body and tan head that slowly fades. Aromas are bready, malty, chocolate, caramel, roast. Hop aromas are spicy and citrusy. Clean yeast wise. Flavors show a nice balance. Ashy, bitter, roasty bitterness with some hop bitterness, malty and bready. Very dry on the roast notes. Hop notes are of mild, generic citrusy hops and some pine. Light esters and fruit towards the finish. Creamy cask mouthfeel. Well conditioned with a nice mild carbonation, medium bodied. Atom (2483) - Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA - DEC 26, 2011
Bomber thanks to beerbill, pours dark brown with an amber hue and small khaki head. Aroma molasses, chocolate, roasted malts, and hops. Taste is bitter roasted malts and pine, with citrus, chocolate, and coffee. Bitterness of hops compliments the roasted malts very nicely, very drinkable. hivemind (916) - New York, New York, USA - DEC 7, 2011
Tap @ Tap Room 307 with Erica. Black pour with an oatmeal head that has almost no bubbles and very good retention with opaque, windshield-frost lacing. Aroma is light roasted hops. Palate is dark and a tad roasty but not overwhelmingly so. Pretty balanced and not incredibly dry for the style. Erica is a sexy, sexy marshmallow.

Bottle. Dark brown-it is kind of sludgy looking- with big pillowy head. Smells sweet, almost like molasses plus a little lemon and maybe some anise and a faint hint at chocolate. More roast in the flavor. Still very sweet with a light dryness coming in at the finish. Ron (3997) - Rochester, New York, USA - NOV 27, 2011
Draft at McGreg’s. clear medium brown, ring of creamy tan bubbles. Nose of chocolate malt, brown sugar, bitter citrus. Taste of grapefruit, chocolate malt, more bitter than balanced but a nice creamy body. jb (3270) - Rochester, New York, USA - NOV 27, 2011
Awesome, heavy coffee nose and palate. Nutty. Creamy head, reddish, dark. Same palate as nose, but some grit and nuts in the palate too. On tap at McGregors. bhensonb (15345) - Woodland, California, USA - NOV 15, 2011
Bomber from Half Time. Pours really dark brown with a small beige head. Aromas of resin and chocolate. My nasal passage seems burnt. Med body. Flavor is resin, burnt malt and chocolate. Something hinting of diacetyl. Works here. Then there’s something like chocolate wine. Then it’s more like chocolate cake. Mixed with herbs and anise. There’s a lot going on with this one. Finishes blackly bitter. Pretty nice stuff. ExpendableHero (925) - Florida, USA - NOV 2, 2011
Black beer with a white head. Aromas of fresh, clean hops, and black licorice. Taste of chocolate is stronger than one might think. Bittersweet herbal hops mix with tastes of black licorice, mild coffee, and dark chocolate. The chocolate dominates the hops in this one, but it works. Dry finish. Tasty stuff.
