Thanks to TIM and Rachel for the bottle. Deep and dark, very metallic smell, subdued hops, a little malt bitterness, easy drinking. Favorite Blueprint brew so far. Mora2000 (6158) - McKinney, Texas, USA - DEC 14, 2010
UPDATED: JAN 1, 2011 Thanks to djrn for sending me this bottle.
The beer pours a medium brown color with a cream-colored head. The aroma is heavy on the roasted malt and chocolate. The beer smells more like a porter than a Black IPA because I don’t get any hops in the nose.
There are definitely hops in the flavor. In addition to the chocolate and roasted malt, I get quite a bit of pine-flavored hops. Low bitterness.
Medium, creamy mouthfeel and medium carbonation.
A good beer for a good cause. tgncc (3145) - Bellmore, New York, USA - DEC 11, 2010
UPDATED: FEB 12, 2011 Rerate on 2/12/2010. The aroma was musty, sweatsock, earthy hops. Some roastyness as well, some caramel. The appearance was a slightly translucent black, with a red hue. The flavor is earthy hops, caramel, brown sugar. At the end, some resiny, piney hop bitterness. Medium in body. Not bad, hardly great in this exciting new beer category. Drinkable. drowland (9048) - Georgia, USA - DEC 8, 2010
12/7/10. Draft. Nice mix of roasted notes and piney, catty, almost sour hop aroma. Nice flavor that leans more towards roasty with touches of sour hop. Cletus (6368) - Connecticut, USA - DEC 6, 2010
Pours dark brown with a tan head. Smells of resin, pine needles, earthy, peppery. Tastes of light resin, some sweet caramel, tea. Spicy finish. Not as bold as some of their other projects, but enjoyable.

22oz bottle-pours a light brown head with lots of lacing and black color with red tint. Aroma is sweet dark malt-caramel/roasty, pine/resin hops. Taste follows. Towards medium body. Easy/lively. doboy (424) - Morehead City, North Carolina, USA - DEC 3, 2010
I just LOVE you guys at Blue Point. You sure know how to brew a hop!!!!!!!
P nice and dark, though some light still came thru. Tan and creamy head lasts well into the beer, really nice lacing on my glass. Wonderful malt and hop aroma. Taste is all hop but not tooo bitter. Mouthfeel is good but not too heavy. A bit dry but a nice dry. Nice bittering on the back side.
Supposed to send a bottle of this to a Lost professional Scouter from the Island now in Las Vegas. Do I send it, or drink it? I was all over you guys when you were in Asheville to get this to the NC Coast! It was worth the wait!
Thanks for knowing your way around brewing and how to treat a Hop! thejon375 (414) - Tampa, Florida, USA - NOV 30, 2010
Great beer for a great cause. Rich dark appearance with slightly tan head. Nice hoppy finish. Ibrew2or3 (8814) - Tempe, Arizona, USA - NOV 27, 2010
Pours dark mahogany with full mocha head and some sheet lacing. The aroma is full and rich and inviting with notes of citrus hops mixing with pin hop resin, some chocolate, sweet toffee candy and a thin layer of dark roasted malts. The taste is rich with dark roasted malts running into a firm layer of pine hop bitterness as well as citrus hops around the edges. By midway the malt sweetened citrus surges forward just in front of lingering pine hop resin and dark roasted malts. Man. I can drink this all the time. Pression @ Lagerhaus.
