Pours almost pitch black with a finger of brown foam that coats the sides of the glass. Aroma is nicely hoppy, with grassy and earthy tones.
First sip has a rush of plum sweetness quickly followed by a nice earthy hop flavor. Finishes bitter, but not tongue curling. There is substantial body and residual sweetness to this brew, which helps balance the hop flavor and bitterness quite nicely.

16oz can. Nice large off-white head of fine and dense bubbels. Light milk chocoalte, roasted grains, a hint of ginger and some light piney hops. Color is a dark brown with a touch of red. Moderate malty body with some toasted bread, light chocolate malts, licorice and some floral and herbal flavors. Moderate bitterness but melds very well with the malt body and other flavors. Extreamly easy drinking and goes down welcomingly. My only gripe is that I don’t have any more. I could drink this stuff every day. So smooth and delicious. Yummy!!

Aroma - the aroma isn’t overly present. Sort of disappointing. What I did discern was hops of course, dark malts, and a little roast.
Appearance - appearance is jet black, with a thin white head that dissipates and turn into a halo. The beer also has a lacing that follows down the glass.
Taste - the taste has rich dark malts, and well balanced hops.
Palate - the feel is medium in body, ranging from creamy to slick in feel. The finish is nicely bitter, not over the top. AndrewMichaelZ (63) - - JAN 15, 2014
Pours a deep mahogany with a light creamy head (drank in Dogfish IPA glass).
Strong floral notes dominate the initial nose but fade to roasty maltiness.
Drinks like a medium-hopped IPA with a hint of sweet caramel. Not bad but it seems a bit out of balance to me. The bitterness lingers on the palate and it finishes with a crisp hit of citrus.

(can - 16 oz) Dark brown with a thin off-white head. Mild hop and chocolate aroma. Bitter hop flavor with a lightly roasted followup. Smooth finish with a very lightly bitter aftertaste. A bit of chocolate and roasted malt at the tail end.

From can. Mild hop aroma, grainy with light herbal notes. Some hop funk, dank nutty undertones. Dark coppery amber clear with off-white foamy lacing head. Medium body with medium-high carbonation. Starts moderately sweet with caramel, mild oxidation notes, cherry wood. Tons of hop flavor and bitterness, with light funky-dank hop oils. Finish is nutty with muted bitterness, light carbonic tang. Smooth after. MrBunn (2844) - The Wet Side of a Dry Town, Pennsylvania, USA - DEC 24, 2013
Can. Pours a murky dark brown that allow a little bit of highlighting an supports a decent tan head. Aromas are weakly grainy with a little bit of darkness and a touch of floral hops. Flavor is fair enough, but the hops presence is mostly just bitterness... not a great direction to blast the palate. aracauna (3651) - Georgia, USA - DEC 15, 2013
Disappointing. It’s a pretty beer, a dark ruby that looks black from afar. It’s the fact that there’s more of a corn flavor than hops that makes this disappointing. Getbetter (1033) - East Palo Alto, California, USA - DEC 8, 2013
From a Can.The pour is a clear brown with a white head. The beer has a roasty and bitter hop taste. The texture is slick with a bitter aftertaste. Not bad Theydon_Bois (20452) - Hazlemere, the lower Xhitlerns, Buckinghamshire, ENGLAND - DEC 2, 2013
Can at Percy Street BBQ, PHL, 29/11/13.
Very dark mahogony brown with a moderate light tan covering that reduces to edgework.
Nose is dank hops, light tropicals, grapefruit, earthy cocoa, pine.
Taste comprises light roast, cocoa powder, light metallic tang, hint of pine, grapefruit.
Medium bodied, fine carbonation, dry finale with subtle hop bitterness.
OK CDA but pretty middle of the road for the style.
