Shiny red/brown with dimpled tan head. Aroma is an herby hop liqueur. Taste is pretty muted, and underdelivers based on aroma and name. Carbonation seems a bit low. $3/16oz Cybercat (6016) - Georgia, USA - AUG 26, 2013
Had to buy this a) for the name and b) because I love black IPAs. Comes out of the can a slightly hazy sepia with a thick, fluffy, persistent khaki head that leaves substantial lacing. Roast malt aroma has a strong woody hop overtone and hints of caramel and chocolate. Flavor is quite hoppy but not bitter, with notes of semi-sweet chocolate, caramel and roast malt. Texture is on the thin side, and not too fizzy, but that is a minor downer. Drinking beer for a good cause - does it get any better? jmagnus87 (2912) - Rockford, Illinois, USA - JUL 27, 2013
16oz can from udbeernut. Thanks! Pours a clear dark brown almost black. Aroma of coffee with a little citrus. Taste is medium bitter. Roasty coffee and chocolate with herbal and grassy hops. Im really digging this beer. Pretty sure i could drink this everyday. demitriustown (1192) - Sterling Heights, Michigan, USA - JUL 19, 2013
Pint can: Aroma is big hops up front with spicy grapefruit note to it. Pours a clear blackish/ amber with a very thick off white head that lingers. Taste has got a nice hop texture with the candied texture I don’t like in some hops. Some light malt texture with some caramel malt notes. Palate is medium to high carbonation with a lingering hop note in the aftertaste. Overall, Pretty good. Cheers! beerandbeyond (708) - ISRAEL - JUL 11, 2013
16oz can poured into a pint glass.
Opaque dark brown with a big airy head.
Dark cocoa aroma, roasted malts, piney hops and faint vanilla notes.
Dry roasty flavors, med-hi bitterness, dark chocolate, and resinous hops.
Med-full body, long finish, could be a bit smoother, but overall not bad at all.

Sampled from a 16 oz can this beer poured a black color with caramel highlights and a huge foamy brown head that lingered and left decent lacing. The aroma was malty, toasty, malted milk and floral hops. The flavor was bitter, roasty and almost sour with cocoa, malt, anise, floral hops and that terrible old McDonalds coffee that always reminded me of rancid battery acid. Medium length bitter old school McDonalds coffee, anise and floral hops. Not good. Zunetag (3) - Pensacola, Florida, USA - JUN 30, 2013 does not count
A delicious black IPA! Not as hoppy as some IPA’s, very smooth with a strong flavor. Highly recommended for IPA lovers. kaser (6366) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - JUN 1, 2013
Black pour at hop cat. Very white foamy head. Malty and smooth. Grains and earthy taste. Good shit Miked1687 (608) - Buffalo, New York, USA - MAY 17, 2013
Can Poured into a glass. Dark Brown appearance with a very light brown head that laces a bunch. Smells chocolaty and hoppy. Some coffee in there too. Taste is a little thin. Some light coffee, dark roasted malts, bitter hops. tastes pleasant but a bit bland. umich03jm (3513) - Flat Rock, Michigan, USA - MAY 16, 2013
Draft at Slows Bar B Q. Pours near pitch black with a small foamy head that quickly fades. Aroma is light roasted coffee, chocolate, grapefruit, and grassy hops. Tastes decent, nice mix of coffee, chocolate and grapefruit hops. Kinda thin a little watery though. The flavors are not as fresh as they should be. Overall, an ok Black IPA.
