Can bought at Champanes in Warren,
this ale had a very clear ruby pour with dark brown and black hues at the sides of the glass, the pour made more than a finger worth of a faint off-white head, the head lowered to thin cover with a ring, it left some spots and small fingers of lacing on the sides of the glass,
this drink had aromas of roasted and toasted malt, dark malt and grainy notes, the hops were grass and faint herb, dark brown sugar with little sugar sweetness, a little dark candy (almost horehound like) and faint dark chocolate notes,
it had roasted grain and malt flavors with some coffee in the background, some malt and brown sugar sweetness, there was a touch of licorice in the background, the finish had some hop bitterness and roasted malt astringency that lingered a bit on the mouth,
the mouth feel was light and felt a little thin, there was average carbonation in this drink,
this was an ok Black IPA, the nose and flavor were good, not a stand out drink but not a bad drink. Beerdedone (3401) - Croydon, Pennsylvania, USA - AUG 15, 2015
Bottle. Pours dark brown with a frothy tan head. Aroma of roasted malts, chocolate, pine and mild hops. Flavor of chocolate, pine, citrus, roast and earth. malrubius (2862) - Springfield, Vermont, USA - APR 30, 2015
Can from Table and Vine. Dark amber with lasting head and lace. Caramel spicy herbal bready aroma. Chocolate and toasted caramel sweetness with some plummy fruit and nuts and and herbal bitterness with lingering caramel. This is much more of a hypothetical American neo-traditional porter than a black IPA. And it’s not very good at either. A mess. rdixon77 (2763) - Georgia, USA - APR 25, 2015
Old rating. Generic black IPA.not bad, but totally boring. Malt body with hop bite. Slightly metallic and earthy.

March Ale Alpharetta. 16oz can. Stale citrus and pine hops that get buried by the roasted malts, nuttiness, metallic, cocoa, earthy. Lacking anything that pops out at you, and the most watered down black ipa I’ve ever had. BrewBoxer (2632) - New York, New York, USA - SEP 21, 2014
Draft. Pours a deep black sludgy color. Has a hoppy porter taste to it. Interesting complexity. I like it MarkSachon (1009) - Pennsylvania, USA - AUG 23, 2014
Can from Gator’s in Pittsburgh. Tastes pretty much like any other IPA. I didn’t think this one had the advertised heaviness --- a little disappointed overall. ryanscourt (1458) - Latrobe, Pennsylvania, USA - JUN 23, 2014
Just a bit off of being a really good black IPA. Nice citrus hops mixed with chocolate flavors. Nice lingering flavor. A little bit weak up front. czar (9004) - Québec, Quebec, CANADA - JUN 3, 2014
can. pours unclear and almost light brown with a nice creamy very light beige head showing some retention and lacing. lightly sweet chocolate malts, brown sweet nutty maltiness, nice citrus and soft pine needles, spices, molasses and burnt sugars, some red fruits here and there, mint and coffee traces. moderate carbonation, light body - oily and a bit sticky, bittersweet resiny-citrusy finish. agreeing with doc below as toxic sludge is a misnomer indeed. still enjoyable.
