Bottle at Chriso’s Fullers-Gales tasting, thanks to Leighton. It pours very dark brown, with a thick beige head. The nose is treacle, pine, resin and sweet caramel. The taste is pine, resin, treacle, charcoal, liquorice, cola and roasted malt, with a bitter-sweet finish. Medium body and moderate carbonation. A decent black IPA. bhensonb (15976) - Woodland, California, USA - NOV 15, 2011
Bomber from Half Time. Pours really dark brown with a small beige head. Aromas of resin and chocolate. My nasal passage seems burnt. Med body. Flavor is resin, burnt malt and chocolate. Something hinting of diacetyl. Works here. Then there’s something like chocolate wine. Then it’s more like chocolate cake. Mixed with herbs and anise. There’s a lot going on with this one. Finishes blackly bitter. Pretty nice stuff. DSG (15432) - Tel Aviv, ISRAEL - APR 14, 2013
Can shared at a tasting at the Beer & Beyond shop. Slightly transparent dark brown with a beige head. Aroma of piney hops, "green" notes and some roastiness. Bitter favor with hops, piney and a bit citric, some roastiness and a bit of coffee. Medium-bodied. Decent. Tmoney99 (15130) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - NOV 19, 2010
Draft sample. Poured clear black color with an average frothy brown head that mostly lasted with good lacing. Moderate to heavy toasted malt, earthy hop with a small alcohol aroma. Medium to full body with a smooth texture and soft carbonation. Medium to heavy dark bitter flavor with a medium to heavy bittersweet finish of moderate to long duration. This is a very good complex beer.
