COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Toxic Sludge is our version of the relatively new Black IPA style. Care should be taken to not spill this heavy ale, as the results could be disastrous, so please consume BP Toxic Sludge responsibly. Hopped at four stages of the brewing process, we combined a hoppy India Pale Ale with a richer, darker malt base for a full bodied beer that’s big on flavor. This limited release, specialty brew was crafted to benefit birds affected by BP’s 2010 Gulf oil spill. 100% of the proceeds go to Tri-State Bird Rescue and Research for their “Spreading Our Wings” campaign. Available only in draft and 22-ounce bottles – you can do more for the birds than drinking your share of Toxic Sludge, donate or buy a cool, limited edition BP Toxic Sludge “Save the Buffleheads” Tshirt: bptoxicsludge.com

Bottle at Joe’s ridiculous going away party tasting. Pours a murky brown with a thin beige head. Big and malty. Sticky hops all over. Murky and malty. Nothing crazy going on, but still decent enough.

1 pint can. Poured a brown color with a smaller sized off white head. Roast, chocolate, with some dank green / floral hoppiness.

The hops have faded somewhat, yet the shwartzbier, roasted black beer aroma and flavour remain. And so I get a somewhat citrus integrated shwartz. Good aroma, good colour and off-white head and lace. Very drinkable. Pleasant, below average as a straight out black ipa.Can from FlandersNed in Warren. Middling mouthfeel.

22oz bottle-pours a light brown head with lots of lacing and black color with red tint. Aroma is sweet dark malt-caramel/roasty, pine/resin hops. Taste follows. Towards medium body. Easy/lively.

Thx. to Jeff. Bomber sample @ RBBSG 2012. Dark brown with a light bordeaux hue, little head. Sweet and hoppy smell, mocha, touch roast, light berries, plenty of american hops, caramel. Taste is bitter coffee grounds mixed with caramel, sweet mocha, some roast, sweeter chocolate, pushing away a bit the pine hops which are rather tuned down.tad fruits, hint brown sugar. Tad softer carb. medium body. Good stuff.

Bottle via trade from backlog notes. Pours dark brown to black in color with a medium sized beige head. The aroma and flavor have mild roasted malt, dark chocolate, earthy and light citrus hops, gets some sweetness, a bit thin and watery to the finish, ok.

Pint can from Capone’s and State Line. Pours chestnut toward black colored with 1-finger tan head. Nose is choc malt, resiny hops, cacao. Tastes piney hoppy, with the hops taking the forefront, and a cacao and black patent malt flavor at mid-palate. In fact, the hops get dominant late, which is OK because the malt balances them out well. This one is very good.

Clear dark brown color, creamy light brown head. Roasted, malty, coffee, citrus taste. Citrus and bitter aftertaste. Moussy mouthfeel, pretty high bitterness. Citrus and roasted scent.

Big fucken can @ home, thanks to BoostIPA. Deep burgundy orange appearance with a foamy brown head. Minty, chocolate, burnt malty nose. A touch of butterscotch. Body is a bit flabby. Lots of toffee and burnt sugar. Pretty bitter flavor. Disappointing.
