Sampled at Get Real NY, cask ale festival. A limited release, profits go to the BP oil split relief. My favorite Blue Point to date. This sucker was very dark, taste was fresh hop. Complex 77ships (10454) - Antwerpen, BELGIUM - SEP 23, 2012
Thx. to Jeff. Bomber sample @ RBBSG 2012. Dark brown with a light bordeaux hue, little head. Sweet and hoppy smell, mocha, touch roast, light berries, plenty of american hops, caramel. Taste is bitter coffee grounds mixed with caramel, sweet mocha, some roast, sweeter chocolate, pushing away a bit the pine hops which are rather tuned down.tad fruits, hint brown sugar. Tad softer carb. medium body. Good stuff. maxwelldeux (4374) - Snohomish, Washington, USA - JAN 20, 2013
Can. Pours a very dark brown color with a moderate off-white head. Nose has a decent amount of hops to it. Taste is well-balanced, with both the hops and the malts coming through. Fairly smooth, too. Dorwart (2603) - Robbinsville, New Jersey, USA - FEB 9, 2014
16oz can. Nice large off-white head of fine and dense bubbels. Light milk chocoalte, roasted grains, a hint of ginger and some light piney hops. Color is a dark brown with a touch of red. Moderate malty body with some toasted bread, light chocolate malts, licorice and some floral and herbal flavors. Moderate bitterness but melds very well with the malt body and other flavors. Extreamly easy drinking and goes down welcomingly. My only gripe is that I don’t have any more. I could drink this stuff every day. So smooth and delicious. Yummy!!

Can from Gator’s in Pittsburgh. Tastes pretty much like any other IPA. I didn’t think this one had the advertised heaviness --- a little disappointed overall.

Pours dark mahogany with full mocha head and some sheet lacing. The aroma is full and rich and inviting with notes of citrus hops mixing with pin hop resin, some chocolate, sweet toffee candy and a thin layer of dark roasted malts. The taste is rich with dark roasted malts running into a firm layer of pine hop bitterness as well as citrus hops around the edges. By midway the malt sweetened citrus surges forward just in front of lingering pine hop resin and dark roasted malts. Man. I can drink this all the time. Yum. Toxic Sludge is a smooth, easy drinking ale. Mocha in color, it has appreciable notes of caramel malt and chocolate balanced by grassy hops with a slightly bitter finish. There’s a hint of citrusy fruit in the backbone, such as grapefruit, that compliments the beer. Toxic Sludge has a somewhat lighter feel to it compared to others in its style, such as Cigar City Or, but nevertheless is a very enjoyable black IPA.

Can: Metallic, weak pine neeedle aroma. Clear brown, thick light tan head, abundant lacing. Pine needle, thyme, and anise seed flavo, all very complimentary. Medium body, easy carbonation. Balanced with a pleasant level of intensity. Not spectacular, but distinctive and unique. A very nice spicy IDA. Bamaboy1975 (242) - Suffolk, Virginia, USA - FEB 13, 2014
Pours almost pitch black with a finger of brown foam that coats the sides of the glass. Aroma is nicely hoppy, with grassy and earthy tones.
First sip has a rush of plum sweetness quickly followed by a nice earthy hop flavor. Finishes bitter, but not tongue curling. There is substantial body and residual sweetness to this brew, which helps balance the hop flavor and bitterness quite nicely.

Great beer for a great cause. Rich dark appearance with slightly tan head. Nice hoppy finish.
