On tap at Cloverleaf. The Black IPA phenomenom continues. Pours a dark amber brown color with an off white foam head. Has an aroma of caramel, roast, and citrus. Has a sweet smoky taste with a decent hop hit. Has a medium mouthfeel. Tmoney99 (14951) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - NOV 19, 2010
Draft sample. Poured clear black color with an average frothy brown head that mostly lasted with good lacing. Moderate to heavy toasted malt, earthy hop with a small alcohol aroma. Medium to full body with a smooth texture and soft carbonation. Medium to heavy dark bitter flavor with a medium to heavy bittersweet finish of moderate to long duration. This is a very good complex beer.

Pression @ Lagerhaus.
22oz bottle-pours a light brown head with lots of lacing and black color with red tint. Aroma is sweet dark malt-caramel/roasty, pine/resin hops. Taste follows. Towards medium body. Easy/lively. arminjewell (9720) - East Lansing, Michigan, USA - DEC 15, 2010
Pours deep black with nice big lacing off white head. Aroma includes notes of grass, pine, touch of metal, some biscuit. Taste is big pine and resinous hops up front, touch of citrus leading into caramel and biscuit, finishing punishingly bitter with a touch of roast. Very good black IPA, roast and hops meld well together.

Dark brown appearance with an average size tan head and decent lacing. Resinous, floral hops meet roasted malts touched with coffee in the aroma. On the palate, roasted malts provide the backbone and hops the flavor. Both are evident in the aftertaste. Medium to full bodied, well carbonated mouthfeel with a lingering finish. Bomber. Pours a deep black body with a tan head, light lacing and thin head retention. Roast y hoppy body light citrus, roast y coffee tones, and a sweet hoppy body. Thin bodied with a fresh grass and citrus body with a mild tangy floral tones. A solid black IPA. coldbrewky (1731) - Hippetown East, New York, USA - JUN 24, 2011
Ah the rotating taps of the Dutch.......Ale house that is. A lovely charcoal black IPA. Thick and lasting head. Nose of hops and thinner malts. body reveals a moderate wood tinged flavor that is twice overtaken by malts then settles to a longer finish of hop. Advertised as 7% and it will let you know such after two of these with dinner. blipp (9691) - La Mesa, California, USA - JUL 14, 2011
Draft. Pours deep brown with a beige head. Nutty and sweet malty aroma with floral and earthy hoppy notes. The flavor has nutty malts, hazelnut, light coffee, and light floral hops. Strikes me as more of a porter/stout than a Black IPA. Pretty good. glennmastrange (2914) - hobe sound, Florida, USA - AUG 2, 2011
Bottle. Moderate toasted note for the malt, herbs and resin for the hops, light meaty note for the yeast with root vegetables, faint licorice, spice and dark dried fruit in the background. Head is large, frothy, light tan with good thick lacing and is mostly lasting. Color is dark brown with a red tint. Flavor starts lightly sweet and lightly to moderately acidic, then finishes lightly acidic and moderately bitter. Palate is medium, a little slick with a lively carbonation. I liked the depth of this Black IPA, but it’s not so rich that it subtracts from it’s easy drinking quality.
