First beer of the 2014 Knoxville Brew Fest. Black, with a ring of foam. Smells like coffee, mostly, with some chocolate. Taste is also coffee with a touch of chocolate. Very rich, full palate, too. shrubber85 (11582) - Greenville, Indiana, USA - APR 27, 2014

Draft. Brown with small tan head. Light aroma of toasted malt. Light body with roasted malt astringency upfront, some smoked notes, and a dry bitter hop finish. rondphoto (4490) - Lakeside Park, Kentucky, USA - MAR 21, 2014
on-tap @ Blue Stallion / Lexington KY --- Clear dark brown, thin rim head, no lace. Taste is toasted malt that turns pleasantly bitter in the palate while adding maple (wood) flavor. There is a pleasant fizziness on the roof of the mouth at the finish. It retains part of the bitter all the way through, keeping things relatively simple, but also satisfying.

Kentucky Fried Charleston Trip Beer #47. Pours a dark blackberry color with a large creamy off-white head. Good head retention. Aroma of roasted malts, caramel, mild floral hops. The taste is mild roast, caramel, dark fruits, herbal hops. Medium bodied, slight lingering bitterness. Chudwick (3332) - Taylor Mill, Kentucky, USA - FEB 9, 2014
Taster at brewery - lager with strong malt notes. Good for the style. And I’m off. Stuff stuff stuff. ContemplateBeer (2089) - Louisville, Kentucky, USA - JAN 4, 2014
Aroma: Moderate roasted malts with a very light noble hop presence. Appearance: Nearly pitch black with a thin, bone coloured head. Flavor: Pretty much matches the nose, but with a little additional chocolate. Just not much hop character pushing this black pils through. Palate: Medium body, creamy texture, soft carbonation, abrupt finish. Overall: Just felt like an average Schwarz; could use a little more character all around.
