An American standard, BBC APA is a full bodied and heavily hopped American Ale. It is copper in color and brewed with a blend of pale and crystal malts, balancing the citrus and pine flavors from large doses of American and English hops to create a very drinkable, hoppy ale. BBC APA is a hophead’s dream!

Bottle. Very dark amber color, tan head. Aroma of floral pine, caramel biscuit. And someone wrote "morning breath" in my notebook, but it’s not my handwriting, so I won’t count it in the score. Taste is very bitter caramel.

Never have been a big fan of BBC beer. Probably should be since I live here but in general I prefer other breweries.

Nonic pint draft at the Bluegrass tap room on East Main Street in Louisville, Kentucky. The pour is a clear golden copper with a one inch well formed white head. The aroma is a dusty floral with a bit of cracker malt. The taste is cracker malt forward followed by the dry floral bitter hops. A bit of dirt shows in the taste as it warms. The palate is medium to light bodied with soft carbonation and the dry softly bitter finish. Tasty enough Pale Ale.

Draft pour at the source. Pours a clear copper with a white head of foam. Grassy, herbs, lemon zest, and green tea are in the aroma. Bitter tea like taste. Medium body and medium carbonation.

(backlog recollected in abstinence) Tap tasting flight, @source downtown pub 09/2012. Middling star of the tasting flight: an easy-drinking, mellow when thirsty APA with a slow attack and fast finish, delivering pleasant floral and minor citric notes on a slightly soggy cereal palate. Thank god for tasting shorthand, as this would have evaporated into oblivion along with many other US brewpub 2-week concoctions (thin palates, most of them).

It poured a hazy dark golden color with a beige head. The aroma was of pine and citrus hops with mild sweet caramel maltiness. The taste was of malts and a decent amount of hops. Good stuff.

2/28/14. On tap at the brewpub and enjoyed again later from a 12oz bottle. Amber copper pour with a small khaki head. Very muted aroma, floral hops, fading fast, caramel, a touch of metal. Meh flavor as well, malty, caramel, floral hops. Meh.

Very hoppy, some citrus, tropical, but sweet aroma. Very hoppy, citrus, a little sweet at the beginning but very hoppy otherwise.

Pours a hazy dark caramel amber color. Medium white head, reducing to a small sticky topping and thick ring. Aroma carries some very nice citrus and tropical hops supported by moderate caramely malt, hoppy fruity, and sweet and very inviting. Medium body. Very firm bitterness cut by malt. Slick and fairly creamy. The bitterness comes on strong about 3/4 through then mellows through the finish of medium to long duration. Balanced enough that the bitterness does not overtake. Pretty nice.
